Phuket, Thailand: Beach Side Cooking Class

I became an ambassador for Cookly earlier this year and one of the fun things about the job is the fact that I get to attend several cool classes while traveling.

One of the classes I attended was a beach side cooking class in Phuket, Thailand. I was initially apprehensive about visiting Phuket because I felt it would be too touristy but after the trip, my heart was full. Phuket is the biggest island in Thailand and it is filled with beaches, shopping malls and a bubbling nightlife.

On the menu for the day

  • Steamed Banana Cakes (Kanom Kluay)
  • Chicken in Coconut Milk Soup (Tom Kha Kai)
  • Thai Fried Noodles with Prawns (Pad Thai)
  • Panaeng Curry with Pork (Kaeng Panaeng Moo)
  • Spicy Minced Chicken Salad (Larb Kai)

The beaches can get really crowded so imagine my excitement when I realized that the cooking class which Cookly wanted me to attend was located on a secluded beach.

The cooking school arranges pick ups for people who sign up for the class but I rented a car because it was the easiest way to get around Phuket so I drove to the class on my own.

The class includes a market tour which starts at 8:30am, welcome breakfast and cooking starts at 10am.

Between each cooking session, the chef briefed the students about the cooking steps for the next dish in a classroom setting. The briefing also included a live cooking demonstration of the cooking procedure.

Afterwards, the students go out to the kitchen to cook. The chefs were available to answer all questions while the students cooked.

Have you ever attended a cooking class? If no would you attend one in the future?
