Desert Festival-Enjoying The Traditions of Rajasthan

If you want to see old forts and places and temples and you have curiosity to know about them, then you’re most welcome to Jaisalmer known as The "Golden City" of Desert. It is the right time to visit Rajasthan due to desert Festival to know about the traditions and culture of Rajasthan which is starting on 8 February.

Jaisalmer is the very beautiful city which is 575 km away from Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan. Desert Festival (Maru festival) gives another look to Jaisalmer. If you want to see some different traditions, then you have to visit the desert festival. It is very entertaining and colourful festival. It is held on in the beginning of February month every year in the sand dunes of Sam which is 42 km away from the city. These three day celebration glorifies the rich culture of the state which organized by Rajasthan tourism board specially for foreign tourists.

Desert festival is all about camel races, puppet shows, magic shows, polo, turban tying competition, and competition for mustache, which is participated by men with log mustache and also there are a lot of competitions held at the festival where local artists participate every year. This is the complete entertainment for all three days.



There are lots of historical heritage. In which Sonar fort and Bada Bag and Dilwada temple is the best.Bada Bag is 6 km away from Jaisalmer and Dilwada temple is famous for its interior .The festival closes with an enchanting music and light show in the moonlight at night with a promise to come back with even more fun next year.
