Chandigarh “The City Beautiful” is known for its urban planning, architecture, cleanliness, greenery and kind of lifestyle it offers to its residents.

It is situated between three states i. e. Haryana, Punjab & Himachal Pradesh. It’s location makes it hot tourist destination. Tourists travelling to Shimla, Kullu & Manali Amritsar can’t stop themselves visiting Chandigarh. Tourists destined to Shimla should have a halt in Chandigarh and explore this City Beautiful.

Sukhna Lake

I have spent almost 3 years in Chandigarh and Sukhna Lake is one of my favourite destination as tourist spot. Available leisure activities, spacious lake side sitting area and food court makes it special. Boating, swinging equipment for children, availability of painting and other artist make it perfect family destination.

At special occasion, you can enjoy music programme at Sukhna lake. The best time to visit Sukhna Lake is sunday evening when there is huge crowd and special programmes for tourists.

Fee to visit Sukhna lake

Visit to Sukhna lake is totally free. There is no entrance charges at Sukhna lake. Leisure activities and dining is slightly costlier.

Boating for 30 minutes cost 400 to 600 Rupees depending upon boat you choose. In the evening time, you can spot 50 to 100 boats in Sukhna lake. Sukhna lake also provides perfect photoshoot scenery and you can click selfie for your Social media profiles.

The Rock Garden of Chandigarh

Rock Garden also know as Nek Chand Rock Garden of Chandigarh. Nek chand was a Govt official who started it in his free time. If you are at Sukhna Lake, you must visit Rock Garden. It’s less than 1 KM away from Sukhna lake and one of very popular tourists place in Chandigarh.

Best part of Rock Garden is it’s man made interlinked waterfalls and sculptures of domestic and industrial waste. Rock garden has many man made narrow passages give you touch of hilly terrain.

There are several spots for photography near waterfalls in The Rock Garden Of Chandigarh. To be frank, Rock garden is not like a regular trip tourist destination but you should visit it atleast once. Rock garden is the only place in Chandigarh that is named as Garden but you will not find any tree, grass park or garden like atmosphere. That is the thing that separate it from other tourist destinations in Chandigarh.

Morni Hills (Haryana)

Morni Hills is one of my favourite place on my destination list whenever I plan for weekend tour. Although it’s not located inside Chandigarh. Morni Hills is in Haryana and around 35 Kilometers away from Chandigarh.

In fact, Morni hills stretch starts around 10 kilometers away from Chandigarh. Morni Hills stretch touches boundary of Panchkula City of Haryana.

Though roads to Morni Hills is not so good but you can enjoy hill driving for 8 to 10 kilometers. Three curves are very sharp and steep, one need to be very careful while driving. All around view at top of Morni Hills is amazing. During monsoon season, temperature remains below and one can capture moments of cloud flowing around hill top.

There is Tikkar Tall lake and you can enjoy boating there. Boats are not operational 12 month a year. There is a restaurant and amusement park for children too. Morni hills visit is best for people who want peaceful environment and lush green around. I found Morni hills one of the best week end trip with family & friends.
