Spice It – Ibis Bengaluru !

Spice It Restaurant part of Ibis Bengaluru Outer Ring Road is a go to place for corporates in the area. With ambiance that is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing meal, the restaurant offers both buffet and A la Carte options to suit the masses. The A la Carte menu has been revamped very recently and I was here to experience the same on a Saturday afternoon. They have some good options on both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well. The Buffet had a good variety going along with some live counters which is required considering both expats and locals opt to dine in here.

Panakam was our welcome drink which is a traditional South Indian drink blending flavors of Jaggery, Ginger, Lemon, Cardamom and Cloves ! Great Start !

Bar Bites

Few picks from the Bar Bites to start off with –

Podi Idli – Having spent the best part of my life in Tamil Nadu, I miss the Podi Idli’s from the state, this one took me back memory lane and was one of the best I’ve had in a while.

Podi Idli

Bhut Jolokia Chicken Wings – Bhut Jolokia as most of you must be knowing is the hottest Chilli Pepper in the world, and so I was ready with my glass of water when the wings arrived. But it turned out to be less spicy then it was intended to be. Got to know from the Chef that they had toned down the Chilli because not many patrons were able to handle the spice level which on the other hand I would have preferred, and so it comes down to personal choice. The Chicken Wings have a sauce dip which also has the Chilli in it, if you are able to handle more of it, dunk in the wings !!

Pan Fried Momo – Vegetarian Pan Fried Momo’s was next on the order. Love the presentation when the food comes in Tiffin Carriers. Excellent dips to go with. Stuffing works well and light on the palate.

From the #WrapAndRollBaby section of the menu –

Phulka Soft Tacos with Peri Peri Soya – This fusion definitely works. Each bite is loaded with flavors. Adding to the minced Soya, the stuffing also included kidney beans, veggies and cheese. Dip, Onions and Chip as sides makes it wholesome !

Dosa Quesadilla, Prawn Ghee Roast – Another fusion that I’ve become a fan of. Prawn Ghee Roast in a Dosa was a first for me and was lip smacking. Not just the dosa, but the dips were interesting as well – Bell Pepper, Date and Curry Leaf dips. While the Dosa itself was high on taste, with the dips it works wonderfully well ! I might go back for this again

Meal in a Bowl section on the menu is all about interesting combos –

Absolute Classic – Dal and Rajma Chawal are the options and it can’t get more classic than this. We had the Rajma Chawal with extra condiments to go with. Again presentation in a Tiffin Carrier was a nostalgic experience of opening the dabba for some good homely food !

My 5 year old was in a mood for Pizza but with appetite just enough to try out a few Desserts that the restaurant is famous for, we requested Chef if we can just get a slice for the younger one which he was kind enough to customize a mini pizza with paneer, veggies and cheese – made fresh and served piping hot – my son loved it !

And finally Desserts to end the meal on a high –

Parle G Cheesecake – The Cheesecake was excellent ! Layered between 2 Parle G biscuits and add fusion in the form of Rabdi and gems made it very very good to eat. Presentation again was eye pleasing ! Portions good enough for a family of 3. Must eat !

Rasmalai Panna Cotta – This is highly recommended. It might look like a normal Panna Cotta, dig your spoon inside and find the Rasmalai ! Full marks for texture and flavor!

And meanwhile, Desi Cold Coffee Shake was being gulped down with all this food

Chef Pradeep and the Restaurant Managers made sure our experience was good both in terms of food and service. They were very open and receptive to feedback while taking care of our requirements. Pricing is another factor that stands out, not as expensive as one would expect in star hotels and is worth every penny.
