Monkey Bar – Special Menu Celebrating Team Spirit This T20 Season

This Indian Premier League ( IPL) T20 Cricket Season, with fans from all over the country geared up in supporting their teams , Monkey Bar across its outlets in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata have got the fun going multi-fold with live screening of matches, contests, a special Menu of regional inspired dishes and amazing deals on cocktails and beverages ! The Monkey Bar Team Spirit menu is available until May 19th which is the date when this cricketing extravaganza comes to an end ! Compact menu with interesting small plates packed with regional flavor profile suited to the place it represents –

It was an afternoon well spent on a relaxing Saturday trying out dishes from this menu and soaking in the team spirit. From the beverages menu, with Vodka being my drink of choice, I opted for Mangaa Cocktail which was a blend of Vodka and Aam Panna and after a while went in for another similar base with the Monkey Masala Soda. With Summer at its peak, these were just perfect.

The small plates in the menu has something going for everyone be it vegetarian or meat. 65 Not Out definitely had Chennai written all over it with Chicken 65 boneless cubes in a flavorful sauce and served with mini oothapam. Representing our Ooru, was the Full Toss Fish in the form of Rava Coated Mackerel fillet sliders with spicy onion salad and mint mayo.

The fun continued with Kothu Super Kings with Shredded Parota which in Tamil refers to Kothu with egg, masala curry and beef ! Having spent the best part of my life in Tamil Nadu, Kothu was like my every alternate day meal, got to experience the same here after a while and with beef was a first.

Action continued with the Pork PowerPlay bringing in the essence of Steamed and pan-fried Chicken Dumplings that got the game going and an amazing Butter Chicken Bouncer from Delhi that brought in the thrill with Spring Roll’s stuffed with Chicken Tikka. That Pork in the dumpling was absolutely well done and one of my favorites here.

With a big group, it was literally everything on the menu that was on the table. Some of the other stuff that I got a bite on were the Gully Bao and the Murgh of the Match, the latter was a clear winner with Dhaba Style Chicken which was finger-licking good !

Ambience here was fun ! Spread across 2 levels with different seating, live screening of matches, banners to cheer for teams, decor impressive.

Ending a meal without desserts is a strict no ! And with Monkey Bar continuing with introducing something new, what better way than to end the cricket season and bring in the mango season with the ‘Aam Party’ menu all of May and our two desserts on the table were part of this upcoming party – The Sweet Pie Mango Tart and the Mango Party Starter. Very impressive indeed, balancing flavors while still managing to hero the mango !

Overall good food, good fun, good times ! Service is quick. Valet parking is available.
