Byg Brewski – Asia’s Biggest Brew Pub !

While Byg Brewski – Sarjapur is well known in the city of Bengaluru, they decided the brand had to take a big leap to be known not just in the city nor in the country but set its mark across the entire continent or maybe even the world and they achieved it by opening Asia’s biggest brew pub in the Hennur locality of the city.  It’s a massive place and you have to see it to believe it !

With the capacity to seat over 3k people at one go, this is one arena where your hangout plans are sorted ! Was here on a weekend evening and the place was already buzzing. The dusk scenes are pretty amazing and with night fall cometh the flaming torch which takes the beauty of the place a notch higher !

With lights turned on and open sky in tandem, the ambience looks mystical. Maximum space is open and though rains are a problem in monsoon, its not an issue here with tents making their way out ! Different zones, different style of seating , separate bars set out in different corners,  rustic interiors – all add to the ambience factor !

The brewery is not functional yet and is expected to kick-off in a months time or so, but there is no dearth of alcoholic beverages here. With some great bar tenders in toe, interesting vintage cocktails like Negroni, Old Fashioned and bottled beer ensured the high factor is taken care off.

With such an ambience, the food got to match up to it and it surely did ! With a gang for company, it was time to try out the variety on offer.  First up were a few Bar snacks

  • Popcorn Prawns – One of my favourites for the day !
  • Karari Roti – Thin crispy roomali roti smeared with masala.
  • Cheese Spring Rolls – Cheesy goodness !

Chicken, Prawn and Pork dumplings were next on the list – all cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth while the baos took care of the vegetarianism.

From the Tawa and Tandoor section, there is loads to choose from. On our table was

  • Black Mushroom – Char grilled mushroom stuffed with cheese, basil and thyme. Loved it !
  • Pathar Ghost / Chicken – Chicken and Beef variants marinated in a home made masala and grilled on a sizzling stone served with ceylon paratha. Meat grilled right and did eat well. The good taste is all on the marination !
  • Chicken Tikka – Comfort food. Any time. Any where

Not to forget another favourite of mine was the Chicken Ghee Roast ! Brings back memories of my Mangalore experience !

Byg Caesar Salad –

Time for some salad and it was Byg ! Iceberg and romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, olives, caesar dressing, garlic croutons and confit chicken ! Refreshing , health quotient gets a boost, caesar dressing with parmesan cheese is just the perfect pairing for me. One could also opt for prawns if chicken is not your thing or just have have it without meat !

Loads of appetizers meant it was a shared Pizza for the mains. Peri Peri Prawns, thin crust – 12 inch pizza with just the right amount of cheese and a slice each is all we needed.

And one’s gotta try their Black Mushroom Risotto which is one of their specials.

Desserts is how it had to end and that too with a triple treat. Brownie bite and a spoon of Tres Leches is all was needed to end the wonderful experience here.

Hospitality and service is good. They have a good team managing right from allocating tables to dine-in service. Make sure you have a reservation before you head here, you could also walk-in but the wait time could get longer especially on weekends. Valet parking is available so that’s one less thing to worry about. Gotta visit them again soon !
