Three Incredible Australia Tours

The post Three Incredible Australia Tours appeared first on Footloose.

Many people labour under the assumption that only the coasts hold anything of interest in Australia, while the great interiors are just a huge blotch of desert and little else. They couldn’t be more wrong. Some of the most interesting tour itineraries to Australia involve its Red Center, and with good reason. The flora and fauna of the region is incredible and unlike anything you’ve seen elsewhere. Also, if you fall in the unfortunate category of people who think that Australia has only the Great Barrier Reef to offer, these three awesome Australia tours are sure to convince you otherwise.

Best of the Coast – Western Australia

Australia Tours – Kalbari

GAdventures is one of our favourite tour companies out there. Their tours are well thought out and their activities are interesting but best of all they have trips to remote places that few other companies have. Western Australia from Perth to upwards till Exmouth is by no means a remote place, but it’s pretty exotic. The tour starts in Perth, and focuses mostly on nature, like the Lancelin and Greenough Wildlife Park and animal rescue facility, and a visit to the Horrocks Beach later in the night. Next visit the Kalbari, the oldest micro nation in Australia, and enjoy the Kalbari National Park. You can also go horseback riding, a river cruise or canoeing! the highlight is later in Monkey Mia, where you get to see the stromatolites, the oldest living fossil in the world, and found in only three locations around the world. Pretty cool huh? Finish the tour spotting dolphins, sharks and scuba diving or snorkeling in Exmouth. The entire trip lasts 10 days, and tours start at $2500 USD.

Australia’s Red Center – From Adelaide to Alice Springs

Australia Tours – Coober Pedy Underground City

Intrepid Travel is another portal with rock solid tour options and Australia’s Red Center is no exception! Completely covered by road, the tour begins down south in Adelaide and goes up till Alice Springs, with some seriously cool camping options along the way. Highlights include driving through red sand dunes and salt pans to Coober Pedy, which is nicknamed the “Opal Capital of the World” and is also unique because the searing temperatures has caused most of the town to shift underground! Most residents live in houses carved out of the hillsides or even constructed underground. Play with joeys at a Kangaroo Orphanage and learn about the local Mala culture in Uluru with an aboriginal guide. End the tour at the King’s Canyon, amidst the Kata Tjuta, a group of red rocks majestically rising out of the desert, and dating back to more than 500 million years! Entire tour lasts 7 days, and starts at a reasonable $750 USD.

REEFS AND RAINFORESTS WITH SAILING

Australia Tours – Daintree Rainforest

Contiki is a fun tour operator, geared more towards the younger crowds, as they have an age stipulation of 18 to 35 year olds for most of their tours. Since the East Coast of Australia is all about sun, sands and beaches, these guys know how to do it best. The accommodation options are as varied as the travel itinerary is, with nights included in hotels, yachts, eco-lodges, and a surf-school village! Start off in Cape Tribulations in Daintree Forests, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you can go trekking with a local aboriginal guide, glide on a zip line through the forests’ canopy, swim in the clear blue waters of the Mossman Gorge or even go kayaking! The biggest highlight of course is going scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, and for this tour that starts off from Cairns. A farmstay helps you learn about the local way of life,a s well as sample a hearty Australian home-cooked meal. Later in the tour you go sailing to the spectacular Whitsundays islands. Other activities optional in the package are bungee jumping and sky diving! There’s way more activities included in this tour, and this was just the tip of the iceberg. The whole tour lasts 16 days, and starts at a reasonably priced $2377 USD.

Our Favourite of the Australia Tours

By far the Contiki tour, it’s simply two weeks jam packed with incredible life experiences. But if you’re traveling with family, then GAdventures might be more up your alley. For the best bang for the buck, go with the Intrepid Travels tour.
