I don’t normally review what most would deem office supplies, but this isn’t just an ordinary Pen. If you have followed me for any amount of time, you know that I always have a pen and small notepad with me at all times, even (and especially) when I do longer hikes; in fact, I had one on the Appalachian Trail. My biggest hurdle has been trying to find a pen that was small, lightweight, has a stylus, and could write in all weather.

My Thoughts on Pokka Pens

My first impression was “Wow, so many different options and the perfect size for me to take backpacking!”. The thing about what I call miniature pens is that they are difficult to hold for more than a couple of seconds. That is not an issue with these pens, because they convert to a full-size pen even though they are miniature in size.

They are easy to use, they write smoothly, and easily fit into a pocket (or in my case a fanny pack) without taking up much space. But the best part? They are Made in the USA!!!!!!

They have so many different “jakket” options (like muddy girl camo or the Thin Red Line), that it’s easy to find a pen to match your personality. I won’t lie….I just placed an order….don’t tell my husband! LOL. Speaking of placing orders, the process was super simple, and they ship super fast! I was pleasantly surprised! Keep in mind, this was of my own doing. I love these pens so much, that I wanted more (especially the muddy camo ones).

I can’t wait to take this with me on the Appalachian Trail this summer. That will be the true test of its durability for sure!

Here I am getting so excited about the pens that I almost forgot about the mini notebooks they sent as well! The MicroNotes are a perfect size to jot down notes. They are roughly the size of a credit card and store easily in a pocket, wallet, or fanny pack. The paper inside is grid paper and I do wish that they were either lined or blank instead. Either way, they are a perfect size and weight for any backpacker that likes to keep a small notepad with them.

What I Would Change

I would love to see them offer a stylus on the end of the jacket without losing the ability for it to transform into a full-size pen. Also, more ink color options would be cool, say like green, dark pink, or purple. Other than those two suggestions, this pen is a perfect pen for backpacking!
