Well, I set a date for my Appalachian Trail thru-hike…Mid-Late February of 2020. Originally I was going to do it solo, but after finding out my husband will definitely be retiring now on December 31, 2019, from the Army, I now have a hiking partner!

This is my preliminary Appalachian Trail Gear list. I expect that it will change over the next 2 years as I test everything out and decide what works for me and what doesn’t. I will list my husband ‘s gear separately except for what we are sharing. I will eventually list the weight of each piece as well and actually separate everything on here between our two packs to give you a better idea of what each of us is carrying.

Tent: Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL3 (this will be split between me and my husband)

Pack: Osprey Ariel AG 65 (this will probably change, as I think this may be overkill in size)
Sleeping Bag: Kelty Cosmic Down 20 (this is changing, as I sleep cold and will need something warmer) (2lbs 14oz)
Sleeping Bag Liner: Sea to Summit Coolmax Adaptor Regular (8.7oz) (also changing this)
Sleeping Pad: Klymit Insulated Static V Lite (not part of the big 3, but close enough lol) – (19.6 oz)
Pillow: Trekology Camping Pillow (yes I really need this) – (2.8 oz)

Stove – MSR Pocket Rocket 2
Pot – Toaks 750ml cup (will probably get a bigger pot since me and hubby are sharing) (3.5 oz)
Lighter – Mini Bic Lighter
Fuel Canister – MSR (or whatever brand I find) – (7.4 oz)
Canister Holder – (1.2 oz)
Water Filtration – Sawyer Squeeze (3.2 oz)
Titanium Spork – (.64 oz)
Optimus Wind Screen (I will probably ditch this)
2 Smartwater Bottles (water storage)
Bladder (to collect dirty water)
Mug – Ozarks Collapsible Mug (for hot chocolate since I gave up coffee)- (4.8 oz)
