FAQ’S

How do I hear the Music?
If you are walking by, we have a speaker set up (although, it is not loud as we don’t want to anger our neighbors and we keep it turned off during rain). If you are in your car or have a radio app on your phone, just tune it into FM Station 88.1

What songs are in this year’s show?
Please see the music lineup section above.

How long is the light show?
The show this year lasts about (tbd) with an intermission of approximately (tbd). The best time for video is anytime during the show and the best time for pictures is the rest period (intermission) between shows when the lights are steady on (there will be no music being played during intermission).

Will you post a video?
Yes, we will update this post with a video in January, so if you are not in the area make sure to subscribe to my updates on Facebook as I will announce it there when the video is up or on Twitter. We also have a Facebook page set up as well that you can follow! Or check out last years blog post.

How many lights are there?
This year is still to be determined. Last year we had a total of 27,000 lights and 2200 feet of extension cords!

Is there anything else we should be aware of?
Yes! Feel free to take pictures or video from the street, but please do not park/walk in the driveway or walk into the yard. We have surveillance cameras set up to protect our property and we will notify Santa if you are caught being naughty! =) Also, please be mindful of our neighbors and do not block driveways or the flow of traffic.

Is there somewhere to park?
Yes, park along the side of the street, but please do not park right in front of the house, so others can enjoy the show as well, and please do not block driveways. You can also park at the school and walk down. You can actually see our house from Skipcha Elementary.

Can we walk into the yard or driveway?
No. Please be respectful of our hard work and stay out of the yard and driveway areas. Last year we had lights damaged causing about $500 in damage and several man hours to repair! Additionally, our vehicles received some brand new scratches on them!

Can we take pictures?
Absolutely, from the road only though! Do not walk into the yard or the driveway. There will be about a 20-minute intermission between shows, where the lights will be steady on to allow for pictures.

How/What can we donate?
We have been asked this a lot lately! Believe it or not, our electric bill does not go up that much thanks to using 95% LED lights. The LED lights are what is so expensive and we are constantly having to repair/replace them.

If you would like to donate, we are always looking for solid colored LED lights (all sizes) and LED rope lights (solid colors). If you are in the area, feel free to drop them off (just leave them on the porch if we are not here).

We are also on the hunt for any gingerbread or candy decorations. We are trying to nail down a theme and Bridget loves gingerbread men. Huge thanks to one of our neighbors who dropped off several cutouts of gingerbread men at the end of the 2015 show which is Bridget’s favorite (unbeknownst to him)! We still need to paint them and hope to put them in next year’s show.

Monetary Donations for Central Bell County Fire/Rescue

Or if you would prefer to donate money, we ask that instead, you donate to our local Volunteer Fire Department, Central Bell County Fire/Rescue in Nolanville. We are both volunteer’s with this department (Jerry is a Lieutenant and Bridget is the Department Secretary / Auxiliary Chairperson) and they are the busiest volunteer fire department in the county. They are also the only volunteer fire department in the area that is staffed 24/7 and ran just as a career department. For more info on the department, please visit their website OR, feel free to volunteer with us! They are always looking for new members in both firefighting and non-firefighting roles!

If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can send your donation made payable to Central Bell County Fire Rescue to CBCFR, 100 N. Main Street, Nolanville, TX 76559 and just put that it was for the Carlson Light Display fundraiser =) We will have a paypal button soon linked here as well that is sent directly to their account.

Who wants to guess how many times we go back to the store for more lights this season? Leave a comment with your guess below =)
