Mother Neff State Park | Camping & Hiking Trails

This is a short and easy trail to hike with beautiful and shaded scenery (except for the prairie loop which is not shaded). The trails are crowded during the spring, summer, and fall weekends, so keep that in mind before heading out.

Also, as of the time of this post (May 2017) half of the Park is closed due to flooding and development. However, the 20 full hookup campsites, as well as about 3 miles of trail, is open.

Your GPS will probably take you to the old visitor center which will show that the park is closed. Stay on Hwy 236 and continue past that entrance to the new entrance further on down the road.

Hiking

Mother Neff State Park offers about 4 miles of trails, however, Lost Creek Trail is currently closed due to flooding. The trails will take you through the prairie and canyon area. While in the canyon area make sure to visit the cave and rock tower.

Within the Prairie Loop Trail, there are a couple of picnic tables which are easily accessed from the parking lot trailhead. It’s a great spot to stop and have lunch. Also, beware of snakes (there is a huge sign posted at the trailhead next to the picnic tables).

Camping

**We have yet to camp here, but when we do, I will update this section with pictures and more details
