If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I’m cheap. I’m always on the lookout for free activities or great deals. Travelling to Las Vegas was no different. Considering the exchange rate, I knew our money had to stretch. Thankfully, there are some great free attractions in Las Vegas. If you’re looking to keep costs down, check out my Top 5 Free Las Vegas Attractions.

#1 Free Las Vegas Attractions – The Fountains of Bellagio

Walking along the Vegas Strip it would be hard to miss the Bellagio Fountains. Shows run every 30 min during the day an every 15 min in the evening. You’ll watch music, water and lights combine to create spectacular performances and with each piece being unique, there’ll always be something new to enjoy no matter how often you see the show.

The display spans more than 1,000 feet with water soaring as high as 460 feet into the air.

A wide range of musical works has been selected for the fountain’s shows, from classical and operatic pieces, to popular music and songs from Broadway.

Designers, musicians and performance artists were invited to choreograph the fountains to these differing musical selections. The result is a rich, dynamic collection of performances in water, each uniquely expressive in its interpretation.

Each show is the length of a song, so anywhere from 3min to 6min.

#2 Free Las Vegas Attractions – Fremont Street Experience

Heading away from the Vegas Strip and into the Downtown area you’ll find Fremont Street – the first paved street in Las Vegas and the second most popular street (after The Strip) in the Las Vegas Valley.

Along with its rich history, Fremont Street now offers nightly shows featuring 12.5 million lights and 550 000 watts of amazing sound. These shows take place every hour from 6pm – 12am, and they last about 15min.

We were lucky enough to catch the Imagine Dragon’s light show. Each show is tailored to suit a song and about 3 songs are played during the show. As the clock hits the top of the hour, all lights along the street go out and the rooftop projections begin and you’ll find everyone stops in their tracks to stare at the ceiling of lights. It was awesome!

Once the show is over, the typical nightly festivities resume. You’ll find musicians, cartoonists, psychics and a variety of Vegas street performers entertaining the crowds. Of course, there are casinos, restaurants and even the famous zip line that spans the length of the street.

There’s something for everyone here on Fremont Street.

#3 Free Las Vegas Attractions – Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas Sign

You haven’t been to Vegas until you’ve managed to snap a pic of yourself under the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign.

Technically the sign is just over 6km south of the city limits, but no one’s really worried about that. You simply hop on a bus or grab a taxi to the sign.

Once you arrive at the sign, you’ll find a short line of tourists waiting to take their pic. There was a friendly volunteer photographer that offered to help with pictures. His service was free, but a small tip wouldn’t go unnoticed.

Of course, you could jump the center queue a snap a pic on either the left or right hand side of the sign. We opted to wait to out, and got a few good pictures to post.

If heading to the actual sign is a bit out of your way, you’ll find a number of replicas built along The Strip, and you can pick up a million souvenirs featuring the iconic design.

#4 Free Las Vegas Attractions – Lik Gallery

There are a number of galleries spread throughout Las Vegas, but my favourite by far was the Lik Gallery in Caesars Palace. This 2000 square foot gallery features the work of Peter Lik, a world renowned landscape photographer.

Peter Lik currently holds the world record for selling the most expensive photograph in history when his black and white masterwork, “Phantom”, was acquired for $6.5millon. So while, you’re more than welcome to walk around and admire his work for free, you won’t be walking out of there without dropping a few million.

#5 Free Las Vegas Attractions – M&M’s World and Hershey’s Chocolate World

Anyone who knows me knows I love chocolate, so it was only natural that I would stop at M&M’s World, as well as Hershey’s Chocolate World for my chocolate fix.

M&M’s World

This four level store will blow your mind. Anything that can be merchandised has been merchandised in this store. Cups, clothing, towels, frames, key chains – you name it, you can get the M&M branded version.

The sweet smell of M&Ms can be a bit overwhelming, but it certainly didn’t bother any customers.
While you’re there, make sure you check out the biggest M&M’s candy wall in the world.

Hershey’s Chocolate World

Located in New York New York Hotel & Casino, Hershey’s Chocolate World is 13 000 square feet, spread across two levels. The store offers over 800 chocolates and candies and features a sculpture of The Statue of Liberty made out of almost 400kgs of chocolate.

While you’re checking out the exclusive treats on sale, you can customise your own chocolate bars.

While these are my top 5 favourite free attractions in Las Vegas, there are a ton of great attractions on offer. No matter your tastes, you’ll find something to entertain you in Sin City.
