Understanding the Rise of the Male Chastity Device

The Chastity belt has a long and confused history. We all have the image of the standard chastity belt put on a renaissance-period woman to keep her from losing her virginity.

It all goes with the sexism and misogyny of the times. That said, as with most things used to oppress others, there’s been a movement to re-establish the chastity belt as an object of enjoyment.

We’re going to take a look that the history of the chastity belt today, hopefully, giving some insight into the rise of the Male Chastity device that’s becoming popular. Let’s get started.

Where Does The Chastity Device Begin?

People talk about chastity belts as if they were a common object used on all women born before the 1500s. The reality, though, is that it’s hard to find examples of actual chastity belts.

Some women have been buried with them on, while there are some written accounts of chastity belts, but the truth about them is a little fuzzy. One dominant idea is that knights strapped belts onto their wives to keep them faithful while they went out to Crusade the Holy Lands.

It’s uncertain as to whether this was just a metaphorical gesture, though. Further, it’s important to consider the hygenic and health implications that a metal belt, strapped to a woman would imply.

If they are unable to take their belt off, they’re restricted in going to the bathroom, cleaning themselves, managing menstruation, and more. Not to mention that an unwashed, contained genital area is one that would be a hotbed for bacteria and illness.

Belts for Masturbation and Protection

The reality of the restrictive belt falls more along the lines of protection against masturbation. There are various accounts of this, especially as these builts poked their heads out of antiquity and into the modern age.

Even as recently as the 20th century, we’ve seen instances of anti-masturbatory belts designed for women.

As awful as that is, there was a positive light to shed on these belts. Some women would wear them as they made their way about town in hopes of preventing rape. They were pretty effective, too, as they were difficult to get off and there would be no potential of rape while the belt was still on.

Uses In The BDSM Community

Now, let’s shift our gaze outward a little bit. It might be hard to think past images of old evil guys, blacksmithing metal into shapes that would prevent a woman from having sex without a man’s approval. Give it a try, though.

In the opposite section of society, sexually free and explorative people have been using chastity devices in the BDSM community for a long time. In many instances, these communities explore the archetypes of dominance and submission.

Either having complete control or offering complete control to another person are kinks to a lot of people. The chastity device is a submission of control and renders the individual unable to have sex while it’s on.

This is a direct way to play on ideas of sex, personal power, and willing submission to another. The more you dig into BDSM toys and other devices used in the community, the deeper you find the kink runs.

The Male Chastity Device

The general idea can apply to men just as well as women. That said, the power structures of the past didn’t provide a real reason for the male chastity device to gain popularity or be widespread.

So, the device is a recent one, and it serves a similar purpose. That said, the male chastity device was created with a kink, not restriction, in mind. That’s why there’s a little twist involved in its function.

The device acts like a little cage that attaches itself to a man’s genitals. It’s not a “chastity belt” so much as a device that acts upon the chastity kink. It doesn’t wrap around the man’s body.

It just attaches to the genitals and holds strong. The dominant individual has a key to the device, and the submissive person puts it on and it stays there until manually removed by the other.

Not only does it just sit there, but it also produces pain if the individual tries to pleasure himself. It might even produce pain if the penis gets erect while the device is on. If it’s placed on while the man is flaccid, getting an erection could put them in a lot of pain.

Variations on The Device

It’s important to note that there are a lot of devices out there that play on the chastity kink. Your device might not cause pain, and it might attach in ways other than the one described above.

You can even engage with your partners in a remote way. You can buy an app controlled chastity device that allows your partner to activate or adjust the device from their own home.

Open-Mindedness and Use

Now, you might think that using one of these toys will change your relationship or that you’re not the kind of person who would do these things. Note that most alternative attitudes toward sex have been vilified for a long period of time.

Things that are new and exciting aren’t always bad. A little discomfort often leads to a new experience that you and your partner can learn and grow from. You might even find that you’re a little kinkier than you thought you were.

So long as you and your partner are both happy to take part in something and you trust one another, there shouldn’t be a problem. Consent and trust are essential.

Beyond that, what makes a sexual act so bad? Unless you have a religious prohibition, you might have the green light. Sound interesting?
