Eight Leader-Recommended Tips to Increase Visibility While Working Remotely

In the eyes of some professionals, a “disadvantage” of remote working is the lack of visibility. Without your colleagues or your boss around you noticing that you are working on a project or achieving your goals, it can be all too easy to feel isolated and isolated and as if you are not getting the recognition you deserve for your hard work . But just because you’re not physically near your boss when working remotely doesn’t mean you can’t achieve the same level of visibility you can at the office.

To help, eight members of Council for Young Entrepreneurs discuss the tips they would give employees to increase their visibility and make their projects (and their hard work) stand out.

1. Get Vocal

One way to make your hard work stand out is to talk about it more. Don’t be afraid to share your achievements. Almost all remote workplaces use a communication platform like Slack to facilitate interaction between teams. Use your company’s platform to share important updates in respective channels, discuss ideas and encourage others to brainstorm. Be the one to break the ice. – Stephanie Wells, Formidable shapes

2. Track Your Weekly Tasks

Keep a to-do list in a tracker of all the projects you’re working on that week. Not only does this keep you organized, but it also makes it easy to showcase your work and give your leadership more insight into it. – Andy Karuzac, NachoNacho

3. Take advantage of collaborative software

Collaboration tools and project management software can help with that. Using a tool like Slack allows everyone to communicate with each other, so no one can be invisible unless they are not participating in conversations. Likewise, using a project management tool like Asana or Trello to track all aspects of projects, including communication, ensures that everyone is visibly involved in the success of each project. – Jonathan Prichard, MattressInsider.com

4. Praise your peers

If you praise your colleagues, chances are they will answer. It is all about praising others, including yourself. Be selective in your praise, of course, but make every effort to recognize when others are doing a good job and that will find its way back into your work and your added value to the company. – Matthew Capala, Alphametric

5. Embrace digital spaces

While video calls may require planning and audio-only calls may be easier, they increase comfort and familiarity for remote workers. Fortunately, we are entering an era where people have befriended each other and are discovering their communities all in digital spaces. Your personality shines through everything you write and through every emoji you choose. Do not be shy! – Tyler Bray, TK Trailer Parts

6. Shout out your achievements

Believe it or not, brazenly praising yourself when you knock a project out of the park can increase the visibility of your office. It is worth remembering that there is a difference between cocky and proud. You should always take pride in your work and let others know when you are doing an exceptionally difficult task. – John Turner, SeedProd LLC

7. Authentic communication

As a leader, you can encourage your employees to embrace and optimize internal communications that resemble office collaboration. Authentic communication ensures complete visibility among the team members working from home or other remote locations. Use advanced project management tools optimized for remote workers. – Candice Georgiadis, digital day

8. Participate in raids

In our company, we have monthly and quarterly statements where we make visible all our employees who have contributed to different projects. This is a great way to make sure everyone’s work is seen and recognized. We just talk about progress during a Zoom call and inform the entire company about contributions. In this way we ensure that people get the visibility they should get. – Syed Balkan, WPBeginner
