In addition to being a professional model, he is a swimming champion, professional bodybuilder, fitness coach and welder/manufacturer. Joel won multiple awards and medals in high school swimming events. While attending Northampton High School in Massachusetts, he was named Athlete of the Year in the Men’s Swimming and Diving category.
He began working as a welder and structural engineer at Salmon Studios after graduating from Auburn University with a degree in professional aviation flying. Joel has also competed in multiple bodybuilding competitions, according to his Instagram page. According to his university’s website, he comes from a swimming family. Louie Bierwert, his father, was an MIT swimmer and Kim Bierwert, his mother, was a diver in college. Lindsay, Joel’s sister, is a swimmer at Hartwick College.
