Electric UTV Nikola Zero is Packed With More Torque!

Two days ago, The Utah-based vehicle manufacturing startup Nikola Motor company released the full specifications for their Nikola Zero, the company’s first electric UTV.

Nikola Zero is an all-electric utility truck vehicle and the latest venture of the vehicle manufacturer who’s famous for its electric hydrogen truck, Nikola One, that was unveiled late last year.

A utility truck or ‘side-by-side‘ is a small two to six person four-wheel drive off-road vehicle that can be used in almost all kinds of terrain, ranging from sandy to gravely to boulder-ridden fields and pocked side roads.

While UTVs may strike some semblance of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), they are actually different in many ways. UTVs have the side-by-side arrangement, allowing room to accommodate passengers, and most have cargo boxes found at the rear of the vehicle. They have higher payload capabilities and bigger in size than ATVs.

With more people taking an interest in spending their weekends off-roading, many also saw the potentials that UTVs offer over the old buggies and ATVs of yesterday. Nikola took notice of these potentials, thus, giving birth to its latest innovation, the all-electric Nikola Zero UTV.

Nikola Zero Specifications

Nikola Zero comes with so many excellent features that will surely give its competitors a run for their money.

The Nikola Zero UTV is an all-electric vehicle that will come in two performance options: 415 HP & 3,675 ft. lbs. of torque and 555 HP & 4,900 ft. lbs. of torque. Now, that’s a lot of power and acceleration–minus the pollution!

The electric UTV will also have three battery options, starting at 75kWh, 100kWh, up to 125kWh, “with the largest battery option giving the Nikola Zero more battery storage than a Tesla P100D.” If that is not enough, the 125kWh battery package can also deliver a 200-mile range in 4×4 off-road.

In a statement, Trevor Milton, CEO of Nikola said:

“The Nikola Zero will be the first UTV to come with optional Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS), stability control, anti-roll-over, traction control and torque vectoring. Normally these options are reserved for high-end sports cars and not normally found in UTVs. We have worked hard to make these UTVs street legal, and in many states, you may be able to drive the Nikola Zero UTV to work.

Once you test drive the Nikola Zero, you will want to trade in your current UTV. No other competitor UTV can match the Nikola Zero’s performance. We are not talking about a few seconds faster than the competition, we are talking about laps faster, with speeds up to 0-60 in 3.9 seconds with four passengers inside.”

The Nikola Zero electric UTV will include the following standard features:

  • 100 percent power steering
  • 20” front and rear suspension travel
  • 14” ground clearance

  • four independent electric motors
