KSEVT_new - Cosmonautics Day Roundtable in Ljubljana

A short beginning of a new chapter in this blog.

12 April 2019, Ljubljana, Slovenia @ Pritličje event space

Since the dawn of a more internationally based KSEVT (Cultural Centre of European Space Technologies), the very last event we cooperated in occured as the International Cosmonautics Day roundtable in the Ljubljana club Pritličje. The talk was dedicated primarily to the correlations between Russian cosmism, a controverse branch of transhumanist and epistemological (and some others) philosophy from the late 19th and early 20th century Russia, and the development of first full scale space programmes, especially, but not solely in the former Soviet Union and modern Russia, as juxtaposed to the USA and later European and newer official space programmes in general.

Event was hosted by Poligonija, a Slovenian humanities institute, with interdisciplinaty speakers:

  • Miha Javornik (PhD), full professor at the Slavic languages and literature department of the Faculty of Arts (University of Ljubljana);
  • Kristina Pranjić (PhD), researcher of objectlessness and "zaum" in Russian literature and art,
  • Natalija Majsova (PhD), researcher of Russian sci-fi movies' and space imagery's genealogy in connection with the the development of official cosmonautics;
  • Anja Banko, movie critic and writer;
  • Dragan Živadinov, anarcho-cosmist, autonomous cosmonaut candidate and theatre director, co-founder of KSEVT;
  • Blaž Šef, web editor, museum guide and theatre actor, regular KSEVT collaborator.
There is some photo-video footage of the event below this short report, though the event was held in Slovene and is as of yet not available in English.
