As effortlessly said by Ms. Becky Lynch “You can be going through Hardships sometimes, and you are struggling, then you are wondering if you are ever going to make it”, it miraculously elucidates that hardships are those obstacles in a person’s life that can make the person think twice about his/her perspective of life. Continuous hardships without the availability of adequate and timely solutions can break anybody’s confidence and can let that person assume whether he/she will be able to survive or not. Many successful people in the world have described their initial stages of life as complete disasters as during that tenure, they had failed miserably numerous no. of times. They described this period as heart-breaking. Although it is always said that without facing hardships no person can come out of their comfort zone and do something innovative and out of box which many people can only dream of.
Whenever a person enters the Field of big data, the first thing they assume and think about is the scope of this field. They always see a big picture that due to its high demand worldwide, countless no. of jobs is available and they just have to study for one or two years in a university and they will get their dream job and will earn millions. But the reality is nobody observes and understands the other side of the coin. People don’t realize that to get your dream job out of those countless no. of jobs is not a piece of cake. It takes a variety of hardships in the form of sleepless nights full of anxiety, tight schedules, hundreds of unsuccessful attempts in analysing the data and much more. By my experience I would like to share about some of the hardships that I personally faced by studying big data.
Firstly, as big data is an advancing field, many programming, data visualization and data storage languages are present in the market which are prominent and hence focusing on maximum of them is quite a task. Understanding them requires a lot of effort which is not that easy to put in for all individuals. Without proper understanding its implementation is difficult which can lead to frustration and negative results. Its ultimate solution is to realize that you can’t learn and remember everything at once and must focus on learning them slowly and accurately rather than hurrying upon them without understanding them. Secondly, we all tend to compare ourselves with others and when we see that other people are getting marvellous results and we can barely manage to do something worth mentioning it leads to further development of anxiety and loss of self-esteem and creates self-doubt. The best way to overcome it is to realize that whenever you try to learn something new, it takes time to become proficient in that and eventually after multiple attempts you will definitely succeed in that. Just learn to be patient and be optimistic.
In the end I would like to conclude that big data like any other field has its own hardships and a person pursuing his/her career in big data cannot escape it. But they must realize that nothing is permanent even their hardships are not!!
