When we talk about old rivalries especially in Automobile Industry who can forget the two German Giants , the Quirkily styled “Mercedes-Benz” or The Ultimate Driving Machine “BMW“. Both are German Automobile Manufacturers both popular for producing Luxury Vehicles.So before beginning the Battle, let’s learn some basic info about both these German Giants.

BMW also known as Bavarian Motor Works is a German luxury vehicle, motorcycle, and engine manufacturing company founded in 1916. It is one of the best-selling luxury automakers in the world. It was founded by Franz Josef Popp, Karl Rapp, Camillo Castiglioni having Headquarters in Munich, Germany.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz is a is a global automobile manufacturer and a division of the German company Daimler AG. The brand is known for luxury vehicles. It was founded in 1926 by Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler. It has its Headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany.

   According to a study by J.D. Power and Associates reliability can be checked by checking no. of problems per 100 vehicles in which Mercedes-Benz had 131 problems per 100 vehicles and BMW had 139 problems per 100 vehicles, hence the winner here is Mercedes-Benz.

2. SAFETY

   Almost every Bmw Car Scores above 9 rating in NCAP safety test’s and its two cars have perfect 10 ratings that are 2 Series and X1. On the contrary Mercedes-Benz has only one car with perfect 10 rating that is E-class and very few of its models are there that have 9 above rating, hence the clear winner is BMW.

3. PERFORMANCE

   BMW has always been the performance brand as its tagline suggests “THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE”. Mercedes-Benz have had more focus on Comfort than Performance. Almost every BMW car scores more than 8.5 in performance rating and many cars such as 5 Series, X5, 4 series have above 9 scores. while on the contrary S-class have above 9 Performance score but many Mercedes-Benz cars have below 8 scores for Performance and hence the clear winner is BMW.

4. INTERIORS

   Interiors have always been the strong point for Mercedes-Benz which can be seen in its Premium luxury car S-class which scores 9.2 in Interior rating and E-class which scores 8.9. Most of the Merc’s score above 7.5 in Interior. On the contrary BMW’s interior scores are Between 7.2 to 8.4. Hence our clear winner is Mercedes-Benz.

5. SMALL CAR RANKINGS

   BMW’S have advantage in small car Department’s as its 2 Series and 3 Series have overall scores of above 8.5 which Merc’s CLA AND C-CLASS doesn’t have. Hence our winner is BMW.

6. MIDSIZE CAR RANKINGS

   Earlier Mercedes-Benz had an upper hand in this segment with its E-Class but now with new 5 Series competition has increased for Mercedes-Benz. Both E-class and 5 Series score equal and hence it is a TIE.

7. LARGE SEDAN RANKINGS

   Mercedes-Benz have always been the king in this Segment with its S-class. Although new BMW 7 Series is a massive uplift from the previous Version and is almost Equally matched with the S-class but still S-class is a little ahead of BMW 7 Series and hence our winner is Mercedes-Benz.

8. SUBCOMPACT SUV RANKINGS

   Here BMW’S X1 has a great Advantage over Mercedes-Benz CLA in various categories hence our winner is BMW.

9. COMPACT SUV RANKINGS

   Both BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC have equal scores and hence it is a TIE.

10. PRICE

    Price is a very important factor while purchasing any car and in this area both these brands are equally matched. Some cars of BMW are expensive and Some cars of Mercedes-Benz are expensive but overall they are almost similarly priced. Hence their is a TIE.
