This app is Preventing Shutdown Windows 10

Individual applications are listed as saying “This app is preventing shutdown” or “this app is preventing you from restarting“. After about two minutes, if the user hasn’t made a choice, it will kick back to the Desktop and not proceed with the Shut Down or Restart process.

Press windows + R and type regedit in Run dialog box to open Registry Editor Click OK.

When registry windows opens In the left pane of Registry Editor window, navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
