How to Blur Sensitive Information while Screen Sharing or Video Recording

With the current situation, most of us are doing work from home and also meetings are done via video calls. So in order to avoid this situation, you can use a free extension for Google Chrome called ZeroBlur. As the name indicates, the extension is useful to quickly Blur sensitive information. You can now stop worrying about leaking sensitive data when delivering a product demo or a sales call. In a few clicks, you’ll be able to blur any element or page area of any web app or website.

With ZeroBlur, you can now select any specific elements or areas of your app or website that you want to be blurred. Choose if you’re going to blur them only on one particular page or site-wide, and you’re good to go. The selected areas would be blurred and you do not have to worry about sharing any sensitive information.

Once you install the extension, you can do the following,

  • Blur specific DOM elements
  • Blur areas of the page with drag and drop
  • Define the intensity of the blur effect applied
  • For each blur area define if it should be applied only on the current page or domain-wide

Each time you blur a portion, it will be saved in the local PC, so that you don’t have to blur it again. ZeroBlur works with websites, server-side apps, and PWA. This extension is pretty handy even when you are making tutorial videos to be published online and using this extension you can blur all sensitive information.
