Tips To Choose A Monitor That's Right For You

Without a great Monitor, your PC won’t be able to live up to its true potential. Whether you enjoy gaming, want to edit video or photos, or just want to browse the internet, choosing the right monitor is key to having the best experience.

Let’s take a look at some top tips to point you in the right direction so you can make the right choice for your needs.

Determine The Purpose Of Your Monitor

Before you can go any further, you need to know what you’ll be mostly using your monitor for. Will you be using it to run your business? Go online? Play games? Knowing its primary function will help you select the most suitable monitor. In general, gamers need to prioritize a fast Refresh Rate and a low response time. A professional should look for color accuracy, while general users have more freedom of choice.

The Importance Of Resolution

You’ll enjoy a better quality picture if you choose a higher resolution monitor. The resolution is the number of pixels the monitor has in terms of width by height. So, for example, a resolution of 1920x1080  or 1080p is Full HD. That’s the minimum spec you’ll need to enjoy a high-quality experience. You can get even sharper images if you choose a QHD or 4K monitor.

Pixel Density

The quality of your monitor will depend significantly on its Pixel Density, with the best density being 109ppi (pixels per inch). Larger monitors have lower pixel density when they’re lower resolution. If you’ll be viewing your monitor from a desktop, a 32” monitor is perfectly adequate.

The Refresh Rate

The refresh rate refers to how many times the monitor updates per second. Measured in Hz (Hertz), a higher number will equal smoother, better images. This is an especially important factor if you’re a gamer. You’ll need a minimum of 75Hz for your monitor, and preferably 120Hz. A refresh rate of 60Hz is fine for regular use.
