Google has officially launches Allo, dubbed as the "Smart messaging app" for Android and iOS, as expected.
If You've been reading My Blog posts regularly , You would have read about Google Allo already.
With The Launching of Allo, Google’s plans to take on
WhatsApp and Facebook
Messenger which are for now, The biggest chatting apps.
The app comes with Google
Assistant integration and uses your phone number as your primary identification and you can optionally link your Google ID as well.
It comes with in-built search and has bunch of cool sticker packs as well.
The built in search allows a user to type @google followed by the item he/she wishes to search and Google retrieves search results from the web based on that (Without leaving the chatting screen) .
Google Allo comes with a Smart Reply feature which lets you respond to messages with just a tap and send a quick responses for general questions. It will also
suggest responses for photos.
Google has upped the emoji and photos game with Allo. You can now write and doodle on photos before sending them.
Coming to the Google Assistant feature, it lets you have a conversation with the app that can help you with numerous tasks from finding a restaurants nearby to getting latest news.
Google says the Assistant will initially be available in English, with more languages coming soon.
Finally, Google Allo also
lets you chat in Incognito mode where messages have end-to-end encryption (This feature was only recently available on Facebook Messenger) and additional
privacy features like discreet
notifications and message
expiration.
It is clear that Google didn't just produce a replica of Whatsapp, But with more impressive features. The Search feature just makes it all the more interesting.
Here's a list of some of Allo features:
- It comes with Full Chat Messaging Capabilities like Whatsapp.
- Smart reply feature that let's you reply with just a tap.
- Google search feature: Ability to search on Google without leaving the chat screen.
- A lot of Emojis: I don't know If it's just me but I love using Emojis in My Chat :D :D. Emoji have replaced the traditional chatting style and Google Allo comes with A Lot of Emojis.
- Custom Sticker Packs made by independent International artists (You won't find these in whatsapp)
- Chat in Incognito mode : Your Chats are end-to-end encrypted and not intercepted by Google's Server. Whatsaap introduced this feature in December 2015 already but It's not very handy.
- You can import your Contacts too If you're already using Whatsapp (I'm guessing You use Android as well) You can easily import your contacts through SMS, Whatsapp & Others.
- Your own Personal Allo Google Assistant : It's worth noting that Google Allo comes built in with a Personalized Assistant which can help you get the latest info on everything ranging from news, traffic, sports, etc Or You can simply plan your own Chat schedule with Allo.
- Miscellaneous : You can sync your chats with other Google Products like YouTube, Gmail, Photos etc...
