Indian smartphone maker Micromax has regularly focused on the localization aspect with its Android smartphones. The phone brings in the availability of local Indian languages which other Android smartphones don’t always offer. The latest smartphones, Micromax Canvas Unite 4 Plus and Micromax Unite 4 Pro Smartphone have now being added to the earlier Micromax Canvas Unite series. Both phones run a different flavour of Android, called Indus OS 2.0 and are priced at Rs.7,499 and Rs 6,999 respectively. The mobile looks to be their best designed smartphone in the Unite series so far.

Both the phones, Unite 4 Plus and Unite 4 Pro offer 5-inch touchscreen HD IPS display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels.

Operating System and Storage

The Unite 4 Plus smartphones run Android Marshmallow, a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor, aided by 2GB of RAM and a Mali T720 GPU. The phone comes with 16GB of internal memory that can be further expanded up to 64GB by inserting a microSD card.

The Canvas Unite 4 Pro rund Android 5.1 Lollipop is upgrade-able to Android Marshmallow. It is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC9832 processor and it comes with the same 2GB of RAM. The phone packs 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.

Battery

The biggest highlight of the Unite 4 Pro is the 3,900 mAh battery, which easily lasts up to two days on a single charge. Micromax Canvas Unite 4 Plus on the other hand supports 2,500mAh battery.

Camera

Both the smartphones sport an 8MP rear autofocus camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing fixed-focus camera for selfies and video calling with an LED flash.

Connectivity Options

The Micromax Unite 4 Plus & the Micromax Unite 4 Pro is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts two Micro-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM, 3G, 4G.

Additional Features

Similar to the Canvas Unite 4, the Unite 4 Pro and the Canvas Unite 4 Plus sports a fingerprint sensor encased into the phone’s home button.

Both Mobile Phones feature system-wide support for 12 Indian regional languages with Indus OS 2.0.

Both smartphones offer additional other language and translation based features as Indus Swipe, a hybrid keyboard, a Text-to-Speech, and the App Bazaar’s regional language market place.

Verdict

The Micromax Unite 4 Pro and Unite 4 Plus are good-looking phones with excellent features with the fact that these phones can be customized for your language. However, the battery can be a big pint of distinction between the duo. The operating system upgraded edition can also be considered as a comparison point.
