Google to pay $1 million to compensate for gender bias lawsuit loss

Google has been ordered by a New York jury to pay over $1 million to an executive, Ulku Rowe, who accused the company of gender discrimination and retaliation. Rowe claimed that Google hired her at a lower pay and position compared to men with less experience, and that she was overlooked for a promotion in favor of a less qualified male colleague. The court ruled that Google did not violate the New York equal pay law but did discriminate against Rowe. Google disputes the jury's findings and stated that it thoroughly investigated Rowe's concerns and found no discrimination or retaliation.
