Apple A13, TSMC working on the N7 Pro production process at 7nm

TSMC is preparing for the next Apple A13 SoCs (of which it will be the sole supplier) that we will find in the new iPhone 2019: they will always be based on the 7nm production process, while we will have to wait for 2020 for 5nm. According to DigiTimes, TSMC will start production of the first 7nm EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) chips during this quarter and its first customer will not be Apple, but Huawei and its upcoming Kirin 985 SoC. of Cupertino, instead, it seems that TSMC has something more advanced in store. We talk about a new production process even more refined than the 7nm EUV one, it is defined with the name N7 Pro, even if at the moment it is not known what the novelties that will be present in this particular node are. The only aspect that DigiTimes considers certain is the fact that Apple will be the first to be able to access it, and will probably hold the exclusive time slot. It is expected that TSMC will be ready to start mass production of N7 Pro based chips starting from the end of the second quarter of 2019, in order to meet the demand for Apple A13 SoCs that we will find on iPhones that will be presented at September.
