Windows File Manager is now available on all Windows 10 PCs

Microsoft has released the Windows File Manager on Windows 10 devices. The original Windows File Manager was a part of Windows 3.0 OS – back in the 90’s. The software was eventually replaced by Windows Explorer in the later versions.

Now, Microsoft has released the software on Microsoft Store as a UWP (Universal Windows Platform) application. Microsoft also mentions that the source code for the file manager will be stored in GitHub – users can suggest improvements or modify the source as they wish.

“The Windows File Manager lives again and runs as a native x86 and x64 desktop app on all currently supported version of Windows, including Windows 10. I welcome your thoughts, comments and suggestions,” the GitHub page reads.

We haven’t tested it yet, and even if we do – there may not be anything impressive about it since the Windows Explorer is more polished looking and has a lot of functionality than Windows File Manager.
