Maps have always been some of our best companions. From guiding sailors to new lands to the newer maps that take us to the best pizzeria in a new city — maps are fantastic. What’s more, the mapmakers of the age including the likes of Google, Apple and the sort, are constantly adding new features so as to make their maps the best ones around. Along the same, Foursquare has come up with a brand new, fantastic list search feature.

In a bid to make its maps more useful, Foursquare has announced a brand new way to look out for lists on its app, through the launch of List Search.

With this new provision, users will now be able to search for the best lists in their area, created by brands and individuals alike. This could include lists with a narrow focus like where to find the best tacos or an insight to one’s neighborhood. Whether you want a list of the best schools in the area, or a list of the best bars, Foursquare’s new feature has the potential to have you covered.

The sudden announcement by Foursquare has not really taken us aback. The company is known for making sudden moves, especially after it decided to blow up it’s application and turn its business into two separate apps, a city guide and a social network.

But sadly, that move did not work out quite well for the company. It is actually traveling in backwards as the company has continually fallen in the app charts and is now ranked in the 280’s in the social networking category on iTunes and even worse on Google play — in the 330’s. Luckily, the company’s Flagship app is still in the top 50 apps in the Food &Drink category on both App store and Google Play.

Anyway, coming back to List Search, the company is also selecting lists from brands like Bon Appetit, PureWow and others, including those it has built in – house. This includes a state-by- state guide to America’s best Pizza, a list of the best restaurants in the U.S and a list of the top 50 cocktail bars. All of these lists will be made available to the users — hopefully, globally.

To access the new feature, all you need to do is tap on the list tab in the mobile application, then search for a particular keyword or brand. Interestingly, the new features come on the heels of a bunch of improvements by Google Maps, that included the ability to create bucket lists and hail Uber cabs from within Google Maps.
