MWC 2018 will be commencing towards to end of this month and Asus has started to send out media invites for its event. Zenfone 5 is the phone series we are expecting, and this new leak almost confirms our assumption. The phone’s schematics have surfaced to reveal what the phone would look like from the outside while we still don’t have any clue of what’s inside.
First off, the Asus Zenfone 5 will be having a metal body which is evident from the antenna lines present on the top and bottom. It looks more like a modern smartphone with the new 18:9 display that has been in trend for a while. The fingerprint scanner has also been sifted to the back where it sits in the centre right above the Asus logo.
The back is also where the phone’s resemblance to iPhone X appears. The camera housing on the alleged Asus Zenfone 5 is very similar to what we had seen on the iPhone X. However, the LED flash sits outside the camera housing on this one. These images have surfaced in a manual which also reveals the model number “ASUS X00PD”.
As it is clearly visible in the images, the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, while there is a micro USB port on the bottom, not Type-C. Taking into account the phone’s listing on Geekbench, the Zenfone 5 will be powered by a Snapdragon 430 processor and will come running Android 8.0 Oreo along with 3GB of RAM.

With these specifications, it is clear that the model is an entry level one and there would be at least a couple more Zenfone 5 models like it has always been. MWC 2018 is just around the corner and we shall be hearing officially from the company soon.
