The Friday Roundup – YouTube SEO & Transporter Effect

YouTube SEO: Is YouTube Search REALLY Dead?

I always get a bit of a laugh out of the endless “SEO is dead” headlines that you see on Youtube or SEO blogs.

Optimizing for the search engines to understand and evaluate your property on YouTube or anywhere for that matter will never stop.

It’s what they do!

Anyway all silliness aside, here’s a great video on the real current state of SEO on YouTube from some guys that are very successful at it.

PowerDirector – How to Create a Sci-Fi Transporter Effect – With Green Screen

This is quite an effective way to pull off the “transporter” effect that is probably best known from the Star Trek series of TV shows and movies.

The effect itself is shown using CyberLink PowerDirector.

If you take a look at it you will see that it really doesn’t use anything too crazy or more importantly, anything solely offered by PowerDirector alone.

The exception to this is the clip created in the Particle Room of PowerDirector but you can replace this with something you find on the internet.

If you are using some other software you can probably still do it although some of the controls and settings shown may look a little different in your video editor.

PowerDirector – Create a Sci-Fi Transporter Effect Without Green Screen

In the video above you can see how to create the Star Trek style “Transporter” effect.

That method uses Green Screen to achieve the transparency needed to make it work.

However there are other ways of doing this although using this method you may find yourself locked a little more into using PowerDirector… or maybe not.

This one uses masks so that’s not a problem but it then uses an effect created in the Particle Room of PowerDirector.

You may be able to get away with using a particle effect from assets on the internet. Anyway take a look and see what you think.

Fire Text Animation Effect in Under 5 Minutes – PowerDirector

This is a quick video showing how to use Blend modes in PowerDirector rather than green screen or masks to “see though” something on the timeline.

How to get 4000 Watch Hours on YouTube in 7 Days?

Great clickbait title here but sadly no magic formula!

The same basics have always been true and will probably remain true for a long time to come.

So aside from the enticing title this is a recap of all the steps and things you need to have in place if you are going to have any level of success on YouTube.

Filmora 12 Curtain Opening Effect Tutorial For Beginners

This is a tutorial for just a simple curtain opening effect executed in Filmora using footage that is already green screen ready.

You could achieve the same thing by using a motion mask effect if you didn’t have the green screen footage.

Doing it that way would be fine but given the amount of free footage that is around these days I think you could spend your time better than fiddling around with masks.

  • Filmora Review

Filmora Video Editing – You Ask, We Answer Ep. 27

It has been a while since the guys at Filmora did a Q&A so here we go!

The first subject they mention is that of archiving completed projects which is very important.

I learned this very quickly when I started out when clients would want to revisit older content and have me rework it.

Trust me, you can’t rework what you don’t have!

Every editor has a different system for backing up stuff check out theirs for some good ideas.

Who Is YOUR Target Audience?

Bit of a long-winded livestream here from Daniel Batal specifically aimed at YouTubers.

In my experience as both a business owner and video editor, trying to convey to people the concept of creating content for the audience and not yourself can be very difficult.

Statements like, “Oh I am not really interested in that.” are completely off track.

Your audience is not interested in whether or not YOU are interested!

They are the audience and the only “interest” we are concerned with is theirs!

To really get this understood to your advantage means that you absolutely must know WHO your audience is and what THEY are interested in.

How to Learn Faster and Stay Productive Making Videos for New Content Creators

This is a good video from Casey Faris on the subject of getting yourself started on a video or a video channel for that matter.

For most people the first step of having an idea is pretty easy.

Remember ideas are in themselves worthless because all of us have endless ideas all day every day!

Diamonds are valuable because they are rare, ideas are cheap because they are everywhere!

The thing that makes an idea valuable is when that idea is put into action or is created in the real world… not just your head.

So here’s the problem.

When faced with the choice of standing still and doing nothing or taking a step forwards and achieving something, your mind will tell you to stop and provide endless reasons why.

There are a multitude of reasons for this but that’s just how minds work in an effort to protect you from failure.

You have to step in and take over that process and force yourself to do it and the more you do it the easier it becomes.

A Proven Strategy for Video Ideas

Following on from the video above here is another great tips video on how to keep yourself moving forward with new content.

Everyone hits the wall at some point or at many points when you are trying to regularly create video content.

Probably for the most part it is not a problem but when it hits it can stop you in your tracks and it can be really hard to get going again.

For times like this the best thing is to have is a strategy for overcoming that exact scenario.
