Learn about Story Continuity and Make Better Videos

Excellent video this week from Kevin on an aspect of video making that is often forgotten about.

Sure we all know that the videos we produce are supposed to have a story and that a lack of story will result in a lack of interest.

We also basically know that if Bill is wearing a red shirt in a scene and a different shot in the same scene shows him wearing a white shirt, that a continuity mistake.

However it is also important to keep in mind that as we are editing our projects together scene by scene or shot by shot, there has to be a logic to the sequence.

There has to be continuity of story.

7 Things You Can Do to Have YouTube Put Your Videos in Front of More People

The Video Creators channel is one of my main sources of information for when it comes to operating successfully on Youtube.

There are a million so called “gurus” out there offering advice but I can safely say there are not that many out there offering the correct advice.

If you are looking to get started on YouTube or taking your existing channel to the next level then there guys know their stuff.

PowerDirector – Tips on using the Boris BCC Beauty Studio Effect

As far as I can tell just about every video editor at the consumer level or even above now comes with at least one type of “beauty” filter or effect plugin.

Most of them do pretty much the same things which are to smooth skin, detect and remove blemishes and to color correct skin tone.

Some are simple, some are quite complex in the amount of control they offer.

In the video below you can check out the Boris Beauty Studio Effect that comes with CyberLink PowerDirector as an addon rather than a built in feature.

VideoStudio, Pinnacle Studio and Filmora also have their own offerings like this one although perhaps not exactly the same.

Boost your Bass with This EASY Preset! – Audacity Tutorial

This is just a quick down’n’dirty method of adding some bass to a voice track in Audacity which is free audio editing software you can download here: Download Audacity

There are a couple of things to keep in mind here.

First up is that the video tutorial shows him working with a very clean recording to begin with.

If you just slap this EQ on to a track that already had some background or unwanted noise on it the effect will be applied to that as well so clean it up first.

To do that just use the Noise Reduction feature.

Secondly have a careful listen to what the boost has done to the voice and adjust as needed… a little goes a long way when it comes to audio.

How to Keep Installed Effects When Updating Filmora

Filmora is similar to many other video editing software programs in the way it sets up default folders when you first install.

These are usually going to be on the main C Drive of the computer and 9 times out of 10 this is not a problem.

However it’s that one “other” time that you need to worry about!

When Filmora and others update sometimes the existing folder structure gets overwritten by the new install and anything in those folders gets lost.

This doesn’t always happen but when it does there is pretty much no coming back from it.

The answer to making sure this does not happen to you is to immediately change the location of various folders inside the software to pretty much anywhere other than the defaults.

After you update all you have to do is re-link those folders and you are good to go with no loss of data or assets.
