Subtitles in VideoStudio Ultimate 2022
One of the first editing programs to offer a decent subtitling module was Corel VideoStudio and with a bit of tweaking over the years it has remained one of the easiest to use.
What Corel or anyone else were not able to do was bypass the two main sources of pain in the entire process.
These were the inevitable tedium that came with transcribing the voiceover or dialogue of a video and laboriously entering that text into the Subtitle editor… until now!
Over the past twenty years or so there have been various projects undertaken by a number of tech companies to develop effective “speech to text” technology.
The result of this development is that Corel have now incorporated speech to text technology into VideoStudio.
This means you can add a video to the timeline, have the software transcribe that video to text then add it all into the subtitle editor where you can clean it up before rendering.

Isobuter 5.0 Released
One of the absolutely key tools I use as part of my expanded software arsenal is a program called Isobuster.
I have had a copy on my computer for probably ten years now and it is one of those programs that you never really need until you need it!
At that point you REALLY need it!
In a nutshell Isobuster is a tool that can recover lost or corrupt data from hard drives, SSD’s, memory cards, CD’s, DVD’s Blu-ray’s or just about anything you can throw at it.
I first started using it back in the bad ol’ days of my Sony Handicam that used mini-DVDs to record video on the fly and proved on a daily basis why that was a bad idea from the outset.
Without going too much into the technicalities of it all Isobuster is designed to bypass the usual file formats and structures that other software look at when running.
It “reads through” all of that and goes to a deeper and more basic level to recover data that would otherwise seem to have been lost.
This new release features a 64 bit version plus a range of other compatibility improvements aimed at Windows 11 and other new hardware demands.

Like he says, your potential audience didn’t pay any money and enter into a contract whereby they are going to put the effort in to watch an hour and a half of movie!
They arrived free for whatever reason and it’s up to you to tell them what the video is about and to deliver it… fast!

Wondershare Filmora 11.4.6 New Features: Beauty Filter, Transparent Background Export and More
This week Wondershare released a new version of Filmora taking it to 11.4.
Amongst the new stuff is a whole Beauty Filter module that offers fine control over skin tones and smoothness as well as a bunch of other stuff.
Some unkind people may suggest that I should be very interested in this new feature a whole lot more than I actually am!
The feature I am really liking is the ability to export video with transparent backgrounds.
Yeah, doesn’t sound so sexy really but bear with me!
In most editing software if you use some kind of green screen effect to create a reusable asset you MUST also include the green screen. That makes for large files as well as making you rely on the next program’s ability to deal effectively with the green.
If you can export the file with a transparent background (an empty alpha channel) then you can create light portable effects that can be used anywhere.
That’s what you can now do in Filmora… cool!

Choosing the Right Camera For Video with Aidin Robbins
This is absolutely my kind of camera review mainly because it doesn’t actually name any camera in particular.
These days the reality is that the type of camera or model of camera that suits you best will inevitably come down to exactly what it is that YOU want to do with it.
That’s why on this site there are no camera reviews.
Sure there is a section here on what to look for: How to Choose a Video Camera https://diyvideoeditor.com/choosing-the-right-video-camera/ but there is no video camera that is going to be a perfect fit for you.
What I can say is that if you read those articles and watch enough videos like the one below you should be able to get pretty close.
Easy Picture in Picture for Gaming Videos in DaVinci Resolve 18
With the somewhat overwhelming complication that comes with a professional editing program like DaVinci Resolve, sometimes the simple things seem almost impossible!
Like most things in life DaVinci Resolve seems impenetrable until you actually slow down and take the time to learn a particular step or technique.
Once you have done that suddenly it all seems so simple!
