Currently in China, the Black Tape which include the blue tabs is the strongest precut tape available. We have went through the 3M, the White Tape, and the Red Tape. Most companies will remove the 3M tape or the other aftermarket tapes to use their own tape from a roll. Adding extra layers of tape is never a good idea, as it more prone to breaking easier as the digitizer may not flush properly towards the frame. However, not enough adhesive on the digitizer may cause the digitizer to lift. Our industry isn’t looking to go the extra mile for you, so frankly most supplier may not add the extra cost into adding this black tape as it is costly and rather stick with the regular 3M adhesive.

The home button has a two-piece gasket to ensure proper fitment into the assembly. One plastic piece and the other a rubber gasket to ensure the placement. We make sure both are properly installed. As being compliant with the Trademark Laws, our home buttons do not carry the square embedded into the home button. As many repair shops and distributors are aware that Apple does infact enforce this trademark very seriously. Some suppliers that carry it put you and themselves at risk by carrying a product which can lead to scenarios which aren’t so pleasant. The home button flex has all the resistors and IC diodes that work with the smart cover to ensure that every time the smart cover closes the device goes into sleep mode.

Right where the iPad Digitizer and the home button flex join, we pre-install a Kapton Tape to ensure that internal or external heat do not trigger functions on the home button or the digitizer. This also serves as a shield to stop electrical transfer from the digitizer to the motherboard. Above the Kapton Tape, we installed and overlayed the anti-static tape just as the original one. We install this to ensure that static electricity from the battery or the motherboard.

So a major issue is that many technician unknowingly crimp the Digitizer Flex. This is probably one of the main reason that when you test the digitizer outside the device it may work fine. As soon as you close the device, the digitizer starts to ghost touch. Normally once the technician peels the tape off the digitizer, the cable sticks to the glass and at point of closing the device, the cable gets crimped unintentionally. By ensuring that where the flex has a potential contact with the double sided tape, and removing the tape, unintentional user error comes to a bare minimum. In addition to this, we have added a hard plastic backing where the cable should be bending so it also folds at the proper bend without the cable being crimped.
