Competing with Uber in the world of ride-sharing app services, Lyft has rapidly become a household name. Initially a modest start-up, Lyft has gradually expanded its market reach, and with its growth, has shifted its corporate headquarters to a larger location, upgrading to new offices in San Francisco and New York.

Though Lyft operates in dozens of cities across the US, the company’s main headquarters remain in San Francisco, California. With substantial growth in Lyft’s ridership, the company has relocated away from their well-known location in the Mission District, to a new headquarters – situated in the trendy China Basin Landing complex, in order to accommodate additional staff.

China Basin Landing
Lyft’s new corporate headquarters was once filled with Dropbox’s corporate offices. The complex sits between 3rd and 4th Streets, overlooking the wharf of McCovey Cove. Overall, the office building has a half million square feet of space, and is the current home to other companies such as Dignity Health and UCSF Radiology Center. Past tenants included the Public Library of Science, Sirna Therapeutics and the newspaper SF Weekly.
Lyft’s new HQ is a fairly modern 6-story building, in terms of exterior style. Inside, the offices are expansive, with large windows, high ceilings and a loft feel throughout. There is a large parking garage, as well as free shuttle service, which is able to transport employees from Lyft’s HQ to other points in the Financial District and nearby BART stations.
A block away, along King Street, there are a number of coffee shops and boutique eateries. The Pacific Bell Park is (literally) next door.
Size and Style
Exact dimensions of their new space are not immediately available, but — when Lyft relocated in 2016, a press release mentioned that their offices would be 3-times larger than their previous location. That would make their China Basin HQ around 200,000 square feet (which should give the company plenty of room to grow).
The Lyft corporate offices been located on Berry Street for only about a year and there hasn’t been too much buzz on what they’re doing with the place. Their last space on Harrison Street was famous for its decor of pink pool noodles. Will we see a similar style of whimsy again? Alas, it currently remains a mystery!
Operating Hours
The office for Lyft are open for standard business hours, currently 7.00 am until 5.00 pm weekdays. Lyft’s headquarters are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Lyft is not open for casual visitors — visitors who are not employees by Lyft should email in advance, if they would like to schedule a meeting. Lyft’s website focuses on contact with representatives via email (rather than in-person).
Other Lyft Main Offices/Regional HQs
The SF headquarters is not the only location that Lyft has offices. There are two other main Lyft offices around the country:

- 150 2nd Ave N, Nashville, TN 37201
These offices aren’t open to the general public (so don’t plan on stopping in if you need to see a Lyft representative). For Lyft drivers, there are support hubs in Boston, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington as well.
As you can see, Lyft is becoming a coast-to-coast national enterprise. Who knows where their next expansion will take them?
