- Open My Computer or This PC.
- Right click on USB drive or external hard drive.
- Click Format.
- Change the File System to NTFS.
- Click on Start.

- Type CMD in the Search box.
- Right-click Command Prompt
- Click on Run as Administrator
- Enter the command, convert
/fs:ntfs /nosecurity
Replace
Done!! Now you can copy the files without any “File is too Large for Destination File System” Error on USB/external hard drive.

There are many third party software which can Convert FAT32 to NTFS without data loss. You can use one of them to Fix “File is too Large for Destination File System“ Error on USB/external hard drive.. I am using 3 Softwares, Use one of them if you want to skip the File Coping/Backup step.
- Download EaseUS Partition Master/ AOMEI Partition Assistant / MiniTool Partition Wizard, install it.
- Connect the USB or hard drive to your computer, launch the software.
- Right-click the disk you want to convert from FAT32 to NTFS and select Convert to NTFS.
- The pop-up dialog box will show the source and destination file system, click OK to continue.
- Now click on Apply (in EaseUS/ AOMI) and Start on pop up in Mini Tool.
