We’re proud to announce that once again, we will be beaming extra wireless connectivity across Scotland’s capital this winter in preparation for the hundreds of thousands of revellers expected at Edinburgh’s Christmas and Hogmanay festivities. Users will be able to enjoy unlimited free access to the internet, thus overcoming the poor mobile coverage associated with big crowds during the peak festive season.

Edinburgh’s Christmas promises a spectacular six-week season of festive entertainment in the heart of the city including Christmas markets, shows and a giant advent calendar. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is one of the world’s greatest new year celebrations and this year features Rag’n’Bone Man, The Human League and Huey Morgan.

IntechnologyWiFi has a 10-year concession with the City of Edinburgh Council to provide free public Wifi throughout the city centre. As the city’s trusted digital partner, we will be installing additional access points throughout the city centre to accommodate the large increase in visitor numbers. This will ensure that revellers can share messages, pictures and videos with friends and family across the world without disruption to data connectivity.

The network is central to the council’s plans for growing the city economy and encouraging residents and visitors to stay longer and increase their spend. Having extra WiFi support in place will show the world that this is the place to be.”
