How Long Does a PRINCE2 Project Management Package Take?

Project Management has been around for nearly as long as people have been engaged in work.  Modern man wants to get things done without too many delays and interruptions.  It used to be a time when a company divided up important tasks of one company, then sent out a separate team to accomplish those tasks (usually based in another town or country) and then repeat this all over again all over again.  Essentially, the version of project management that have become popular over time has been the Scope Management version.  During the mid to late 1990’s, scope management began to be a booming business. As on a PRINCE2 glasgow training qualification.

The scope management version includes all the historical information that a user wants to see about a project, but the one problem that plagues this information (with regards to politics and ego) is that it takes too much of a chore to read through all the nit-picking details and put it into a digestible form.  Considering how long this task takes to complete, no one wants to do that task because the time savings could just as easily be used doing something else.  To solve this problem (and keep your ego about yourself safe and out of the way), the scope management version simply takes all the data, puts it into a set of reports that all users can access, and then rubs it all together with super powers.  Users do not have to figure out where each item on the list is located.  The “sweet spot” is the only one who needs to know what any item on the list is.

The benefits of having the scope management package develop on-site instead of outsourcing the work to a firm, and its costs, is not hard to see.  While the client will pay for the resource (the time, and the overhead for information) the firm will only pay for what they use.  It is really a win-win situation for all concerned.  After all, if you are spending more time cutting and changing the product code, the money still stays here in the registers.  Does a firm really want to answer to the customer more questions than they are able to answer?

In this day and age, companies want to keep the respect of all concerned.  By entering into an arrangement such as this, the customer does not know in advance WHY they are being charged more for their work.  And all the time the firm is spending figuring out the reasons why that is now what the customer expects.

It is clear to see that this will only become a real problem if all the work is only completed once.  In practice, this chain of events is reduced if the firm is contracted with more work than they can handle at one time.  If this happens, you have little to no customers (or clients) now actually asking for more work from you.  This will take a big bite out of current revenues and your ability to make any money.

When you dig under the surface of the scope management package you use, it is easy to see that this is a much better alternative.  Since all the information needed to put together the reports that need to be created is already in the package itself, the same value can be brought to the task of creating the reports by contracting the package with the team.  This is a good benefit to be able to contract the package with any project.  It is a way that the scope management package becomes more and more affordable over time.  In the end, any project will benefit from this concept.
