Design

The chassis of this laptop is identical to the GL502VT and right now, we don’t see any form of unintended caps or manufacturing defects. On the keyboard, the WASD keys are highlighted in bright cone orange, which may not go well with some users, but we personally like this. Despite it all, the quality of the chassis is excellent and stronger than most laptops.

Thanks to the wide view panel, you will be able to see the display up to 160°. This means you probably won’t be able to notice a color difference, even when you are viewing it from odd positions. The same cannot be said about some of the other laptops currently on the market – even the slightest screen shift will make it hard to see the screen.

The cooling in this ASUS Rog Strix GL502VY-DS71 laptop is pretty good. With proper cooling, you can have longer gaming sessions, without having to worry about the laptop overheating. While the screen size is a nice 15.6 inches, the laptop itself only weighs 6.2 pounds.

The display we have in the ASUS ROG Strix GL502VY-DS71 is a 15.6 inch one with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Comparing this one with the GL502VT, they look similar and both have amazing clarity and minimal graininess. The color coverage nests at around 55 percent and 84 percent of sRGB and AdobeRGB. This laptop offers deeper colors than most 15-inch gaming notebooks.

The processor that is responsible for powering this gaming laptop is a Intel Core i7-6700HQ and this one is the more common Skylake CPU option when it comes to gaming notebooks. The performance is pretty good.
The ROG Strix GL502 is fitted with up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM. This way, you will benefit from the improved capacity, speed, and lower power consumption.

This laptop includes a SATA III M.2 SSD and a secondary HDD (1 TB SanDisk and secondary storage of 2 TB).

As for the battery life, it can last up to 6 hours, which is really good when it comes to a gaming laptop, because most of them will only last up to 3 hours.
