Can’t we just be friends? Are there no Apps that let you search for friends, without being hit on? In this article, we’ve tried to compile some apps that—in theory—are for meeting new people and making friends. What happens beyond that is another story.
Meet Up
MeetUp is the best way to find people with the same interests as you. It works like an event searcher, with events sorted by categories and always attracting a lot of people. It’s an app in which you can specify your passion and be presented with lists of groups and events related to it.
MeetUp is a social app with a great design and an active community. It’s perfect if you want to find groups of people with a shared interest: music, technology, cinema, languages...whatever floats your boat, it’s all hosted on Meetup.

CouchSurfing
CouchSurfing is an ideal way to meet people while you travel. It has a large community and is perfect for experiencing a new city through the eyes of a local. It’s available in more than 100,000 cities and has more than 9 million users.
One of CouchSurfing’s most popular advantages is that you can meet other travellers like you through events in which are publicized via the app. You’ll never feel too far from home as long as there’s a friend nearby.

Groopify
Groopify is similar to MeetUp but with slightly different mechanics and a bigger focus on getting to know users personally. On registering, you’ll need to specify your location and interests so that the app can present you with users who share similar tastes who live in the same area.
It’s another app that uses Tinder-style controls, which are easy master and use. It’s perfect for making plans and meeting new people. Bear in mind, though, that the majority of features come with a fee attached.

Nearify
Nearify is an app that is pretty similar to MeetUp and allows you to make friends while attending the same events. Search for events around you that are based on your preferences and filter by location, date and, of course, category.
This way, you'll only see the events that you might like and you'll be able to see who's going in order to begin a conversation. Download this application if you want a worthy alternative that focuses on your interests and allows you to connect with people seamlessly. Making friends was never this easy.
