iPhone 7: Rumors on Features and specs

Tags: iphone

Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have made their gala entrances into the smartphone world. From the previous generation of Iphone, there hasn’t been many changes externally. Internally though, a lot has changed. According to Apple’s commercial ‘the only thing that’s changed is everything’. While that statement is true to many extents, there are a lot of spaces where Apple could have improvised the iPhone 6s. The fans liked the new Rose Gold color, geeks would certainly prefer the stronger Aluminum 7000 series chassis or the performance enthusiasts will love the 3D touch feature.

But there’s another group of people who are eagerly waiting for the upcoming iPhone 7. Mostly because they don’t want to upgrade just yet, and the major changes happen in the non-S models every other year. There has been several rumours on iPhone 7 features on the internet – not sure how many of those are actually true but they are worth a shot.

Waterproof iPhone 7

The latest iPhones are water resistant to a certain level. They are not marked safe underwater or maybe even against splashes, but in various tests the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s have seen to be resisting water for quite a long time before they start malfunctioning. This unofficial addition is of course a safeguard against those accidental damage moments or callous users – but having an official sealing rating on board is more appealing.

Many rumor and leaking websites along with Chinese micro-blogging websites have released information on how Apple is testing waterproof chassis designs for the upcoming generation of iPhone. There hasn’t been any official mention of waterproofing yet – but then again, Apple never releases any information on upcoming device until the day of keynote and presentation.

Since some levels of water resistance have been noticed on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s generations quite recently; expecting a fully official waterproofing isn’t weird. Most likely the rating for this resistance would be IP68, like the Sony Xperia devices out there.

Gesture Unlock

Using gestures or drawing patterns on the display by connecting dots to unlock a smartphone isn’t new. Android users are familiar with this technology for a long time; however, Apple is most likely going to bring a new unlocking technology on their next iPhone. A patent has been pending since 2012 that gives Apple the authority to use this technology on their smartphones – hopefully it is going to be something different than what we already know, but not like a new innovation for the smartphone world. However, iPad Air 3 is probably going to be the first iOS device with this gesture unlock feature.

Joystick-like Home Button

By joystick-like, the reference doesn’t point towards an actual joystick. Instead, the gesture are most likely going to mock a joystick operation. The sapphire coated home button lens would still be the same; but apart from only reading the fingerprints it would be able to detect gestures on the home button as well. While all the features would be available through the touchscreen display interface, having a dynamic home button would help with faster getting around.

Conclusion

These three features have shown up as potential features on the iPhone 7. As more days go by, more authentic and informative ‘rumors’ would show up.
