Jomweb’s sweet story

So more than half the world is using a smart Phone and more than half of those smart phones have an Android operating system.  The cute little android symbols are everywhere! At Jomweb we are more than familiar with the green futuristic looking droids. Android is slowing taking over the world, almost in a creepy Matrix way. This blog is not about a dystopian society ruled by droids, Sigh (Yeah I think we got off on the wrong foot) Anyways, this week I am looking at Jomweb’s awesome journey from version to version update of the Android operating system.

A Google platform, Android has taken the smart phone to a whole new level of sophistication. Powering more than one billion smart phones, this operating system’s story is so sweet that all its version updates are also named after a dessert!  At Jomweb we constantly update ourselves with the latest technologies. We started our journey with Gingerbread and now we are on the path of enlightening ourselves with the latest and coolest Lollipop updates.

And then ran the gingerbread man…

The moral of the gingerbread man’s story is quite simple. Run and keep running, let no one catch you! When Android released its 2.3 version it became quite clear that they were running at a lightning bolt speed. When we first started working with Gingerbread, we wanted to make use of the new updates to make user interface better. And so we did. Another purpose of this update was to create a better gaming experience for users.

And the queen bee left her honeycomb…

Jomweb has never restricted itself to smart phones; we have always worked with multiple devices. With the inception of Honeycomb, Android 3.0 we were able to optimize functions on tablets. Functionality became easier and our apps could work on multiple platforms with the same user experience.  We began emphasizing the importance of cross platform functionality to our clients and updating ourselves with this new version!

Then came the age of new discoveries!

Ice cream sandwiches are such a treat, they are innovative in looks as well as taste! Android’s 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich took the operating system to another level of simplicity and elegance. This new version brought about a vast change in the Smart Phone Industry. Jomweb developed some really cool apps which enhanced UI as well as UX. 4.0 became a turning point for our team!

And then came the freedom of choice… The 4.1 version of the Android operating system is a slick design with Google Now by its side. Our app developers worked with this version to find the right target audience for clients. Jellybean gave the right information at the right time making it easier for us at Jomweb to design apt apps for our clients.

OK GOOGLE, get me a kitkat!

Kitkat is simply awesome! This is one of my personal favorite versions.  Kitkat came up with some really cool features which completely redefined the smart phone industry. Jomweb updates itself with the latest and with a range of new features we created the best apps! From touch screen improvements to infrared blasting the list is endless. The easiest and fastest way to reach your target audience is location based marketing and with a location bar in quick settings we update our apps to make them more accessible.  The Message Access Profile or MAP enable nearby devices to communicate with each other. With the Internet of Things being the latest mobile app trend Jomweb uses the MAP feature to develop communicative apps.

Animations everywhere…the lollipop story

Yes, the latest version of the Android OS has a long way to go. Lollipop is that overachieving kid in class, with many more bug fixes to go before its success. Fluid and purposeful motion has definitely slowed down phones all over the world. However we can surely look forward to some new fixes which will solve this problem. What’s more? Lollipop does have some awe inspiring features. With the ability to pick up where you left off and more tangible interaction it cannot get any better. Moreover the biggest advantage of version 5.0 is its entry into the wearable technology market, powering watches, televisions and cars!
