Untethered iOS 8.1.1 Jailbreak Shown off by iH8Sn0w
iH8Sn0w, a renown iOS hacker has posted a video on YouTube demonstrating an untethered iOS 8.1.1 jailbreakon iPad 3 (J2a model). This is a significant progress on iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak since Apple has already patched several key vulnerabilities used in the Pangu iOS 8-8.1 jailbreak with the release of iOS 8.1.1 firmware.
iH8Sn0w, who’es know for his jailbreak tools such as Sn0wbreeze, P0sixspwn and iREB, has published a video giving a demo of untethered iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak on an iPad 3. Providing further details about the jailbreak, he mentioned that the untethered iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak works only on 30-pin devices. Which makes it compatible with iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPhone 4s that have the legacy 30-pin connector.

Been working on this since last Friday with @XanderKitteh (really awesome dude). This uses some new research between the two of us (not bootrom related[aw ik], but not HFS either). Still only limited to working with 30pin devices due to no serial over lightning
As per iH8Sn0w, the jailbreak is not bootrom or HFS-related, and is limited to 30-pin connector. Apple replaced the legacy 30-pin connector with lightening connector in 2012 with the launch of iPhone 5. So the jailbreak won’t work with iOS devices such as iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini and iPod Touch 5g.
It’s worth mentioning here that it’s just a proof that iOS 8.1.1 is jailbroken, but doesn’t guarantee public availability of the jailbreak. In fact, iH8Sn0w has demonstrated several jailbreaks that could never see the light of day.
While the video gives all the needed proofs that iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak has been achieved, we still recommend not to update to iOS 8.1.1. Again, we might not see this jailbreak making a public debut, and with the availability of iOS 8.2 beta to developers, it may take a while before it does.
