Fix Android Marshmallow Battery Drain

Android Marshmallow Battery Drain is the becoming a nuisance now. Here are some detailed steps on how to reduce battery drain.

Fix Android Marshmallow Battery Drain

Google released Android Marshmallow recently and all the other OEMs are planning to update their own products. But as we all know, with each iteration of Android, there had been some bugs and inconsistencies in it. One of the main example is Lollipop’s memory management.

Recently, some Nexus users along with Moto users are experiencing huge battery loss even after the update of Marshmallow (Ironic!). Even with the implementation of Doze, the battery leak is getting high. In this post, We will try to curb this battery drain as much as possible.

Disabling Location and Wifi Scanning:

Wifi and location is the primary culprit here. With the coming of Marshmallow, some of the Wifi scanning algorithms are changed . Google recently acknowledged the bug present in this algorithm and is working on it to fix. However, as a user, we can increase our battery life by just disabling this not so useful feature. In order to disable location and Wifi scanning, follow the following procedure.

Step1: Go to Settings->Location

Step2: Touch the 3 dots at the top right corner and select “Scanning”

Step3: Disable “Wifi scanning” and “Bluetooth Scanning”

Step4: Done . Now experience enhanced battery longevity.

Bonus tip: Go to Settings->Wifi->Touch the 3 Dots and select “Advanced”-> Make sure “Keep Wi-fi on during sleep” as “Never”. This will make sure that Wifi will get disabled when your mobile goes to sleep thereby drastically increasing your stand-by time.

Remove Facebook and Messenger App:

Even an avid Facebook user knows how much heavy the official Facebook app is. With the coming of Messenger app, it has not only become a memory hog,but also Battery drainer. According to a recent report by Androidcentral, uninstalling facebook and its messaging app is a blessing to your Android device.

Our suggestion is to use Facebook in Chrome browser. You can enable notifications of your Facebook wall in Chrome and the good thing is, the Battery drain is significantly lesssser!

Remove Unnecessary Apps:

I can’t stress on this anymore. In order to achieve something of a greater value, you must sacrifice somethings… Installing Apps which are unnecessary and of no use not only takes up a lot of our precious memory (Considering the fact that most of the modern Android phones don’t come with SD card support) but also eat  a lot of battery by staying in Background.

If you are rooted, then Greenify works best along with Doze. But if you are not rooted, then uninstalling useless apps will increase your Marshmallow Battery. Don’ trust me even now? Get into Safemode and experience the bliss yourself.

Install some battery stats app such as Better Battery Stats and look through it. You will notice some apps which notoriously run in background. Uninstall them if you have no use and enjoy the elongated battery :P.

Remove “Battery Optimizing Apps”:

Yes, you read it right. You should remove these so called Battery optimizing Apps in order to really improve your Android battery. Ironic right?

Most of the “Ram Freeing” as well as “Battery caliberating” Apps are fake and some of them even act as a backdoor for some hacker (Malware Alert!).

In simple words, get rid of these apps and try to manually free your RAM instead of taking the shortcut method.

Conclusion:

These are some of the tips which I have tested and come up with. Try these and let me know the results in the comment section below!
