How to Enable Google SafeSearch to Block Explicit Content from the Internet

With Google’s Safesearch feature, you can rest assured that your search results will not contain any mature or explicit information. For users who are above the age of 18, the feature is automatically turned off. However, you can enable it manually by going to the settings. Even if the user isn’t signed in to their Google account, it can still be turned on for both desktop and mobile.

Google SafeSearch can Block Explicit Content from the Internet

There are a few things to keep in mind before you change Google’s SafeSearch settings. In the first instance, users simply need to enable or disable this option on one of their devices in order for Google to automatically sync the option across all devices that are tied to the same Google account. However, if the Google account belongs to a child and is being looked after by a parent through the Family Link app, it can only be turned off by them from their own phone.

To turn on SafeSearch while on a laptop that has either Windows, Mac, or Linux, go to the SafeSearch settings page on Google. To activate the feature, all you have to do is flip the switch to the on position.

5 Basic Search Tips Most People Overlook

It is also possible to access Google’s search settings directly from the Google homepage, which provides access to SafeSearch. On Google.com, go to Settings in the bottom-right corner of your browser, and then pick ‘Search Settings’ from the pop-up menu that appears. To turn on safe search, check the box next to “Turn on safe search.” Then, scroll down and click the blue “Save” button at the bottom. You’ll see a message that says “Your preferences have been saved,” and you’ll just have to click “OK” to make sure that SafeSearch is always on when you search with that browser again.

SafeSearch may be enabled or disabled in the Google app for Android or iOS by touching your avatar in the upper right corner. To change settings, go to the pop-up menu and choose “Settings.” Then, choose “Hide explicit results.” When you get to the next page, turn on the toggle next to “Explicit results filter” if it isn’t already set to “on.” This will make it harder for anyone to find things like pornography when searching on Google.

When searching for images, videos, and web pages, SafeSearch filters away most of the sexual content from results. However, Google says that it can’t be 100% correct, which means that some bad content may still get through from time to time. As long as it’s on, Google will show users the most relevant search results. In some cases, these results may be full of explicit content.
