Tesla starts accepting dogecoin on its online store

Tesla has started accepting dogecoin as payment for merchandise on its online store. Elon Musk first made this known in December 2020, stating the electric carmaker will accept dogecoin as payment for merchandise on a test basis.

It was noticed this morning that items listed in the “lifestyle” section of its shop, such as Giga Texas Belt Buckle, Cyberquad for Kids, and the Cyberwhistle are now priced in DOGE. The Giga Texas Belt Buckle is priced at 835 DOGE, Cyberquad for kids priced at 12020 DOGE, and Cyberwhistle for 300 DOGE.

Elon Musk confirmed this development with this tweet as shown below

A few months ago, Tesla backtracked on its decision to accept payments in bitcoin, citing environmental concerns about the way the cryptocurrency is mined.
