AirtelTigo Ghana CEO, Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi, resigns to take up CEO position at MTN Rwanda

Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi, the first female CEO of Airteltigo Ghana has resigned and is heading to Mtn Rwanda as the new CEO.

Her last day in AirtelTigo Ghana was Friday, September 13, 2019.

Ng’ambi is replacing Bart Hofker, who has been the CEO of the operations in MTN Rwanda since November 2016. Bart is taking up the CEO position in MTN Zambia, replacing Philip van Dalsen, who will be leaving the Group at the end of the month.

According to an MTN statement, “Ng’ambi, is a seasoned leader with a career spanning more than 10 years in telecoms and returns to MTN where she previously held the role of Chief Marketing Officer at MTN Benin and several other roles at MTN Zambia. She has a strong background in commercial and technology with a track record of driving business strategy for growth, as well as developing high-performing teams. She also has the unique experience of leading mergers and acquisitions in the telecom industry.”

MTN Rwanda is the market leader with over 3.8 million subscribers as at the beginning of the year. It launched its operations in Rwanda in 1998.

Before joining AirtelTigo, Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi was the CEO of Tigo Senegal.

Ng’ambi has a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Joensuu, Finland and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Namibia.
