When is "Good Enough" Not Enough?

When Is

Would you consider 99.9% of a given task, action or situation “good enough”? If so, this means you would have to accept two unsafe plane landings at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago per day. It would then be fine for the U.S. Postal Service to loose 16,000 pieces of mail every hour. And 366 checks would be deducted from the wrong banks accounts every minute! As you can see, 99.9% is not “good enough” when it comes to certain things.

Although you won’t lose your paycheck, have your bank account drained or risk death upon landing if your car audio is just “good enough”, this way of thinking can certainly compromise the potential quality of your system and in a way, translate into wasted money. With more critical equipment such as a car security system, a sub-par configuration could result in your vehicle being broken into or stolen, which is a bit more problematic than not having the best possible sound.

When purchasing a car entertainment system, remote starter or security system, ask yourself what it is you really want to achieve. Perfect sound? The ability to start your vehicle while on vacation from another state? A car alarm that secures your investment 100% of the time? Consider what saving a few dollars might mean in the long run. Is saving $50 on a sensor that might otherwise leave vulnerability that can be exploited by car thieves worth the headache? Will stepping down to a slightly cheaper amplifier still give you the acoustic fidelity you enjoy most? Will coming home to a dead car battery in the middle of winter make you wish you had spent a little extra money on a car starter with remote access?

Good enough” is fine for leaf bags or birthday party favors, but when it comes to hobbies we are passionate about, things that keep us safe or products that improve the quality of our lives, “good enough” is not enough.

Also, when it comes to installation we certainly don’t cut corners or call any of our work “good enough”. At Communications Center there is no such thing as an extra wire that “doesn’t really do much”, or a connection that holds together just well enough to work till you leave the shop. We expect 100% from our staff and provide 100% to our clients, 100% of the time.
