This is the question that most of the PC users would ask the moment they buy new Hardware specially the Motherboard and CPU. And I am sure that you had the asked this question as well to the shopkeeper who sold you the stuff. Let me be straight because most of the users are willing to know the answer right way

The answer is

“NO”

Out of 100 there are 99% chances that you don’t need to reinstall the windows and the reasons are simple. I am sure everyone who is reading the same should have win 7 or newer and these windows have each and every driver that is needed by the OS to detect and make use out of your new hardware. There is always a possibility of upgrading new motherboard and pc without Reinstalling Windows.

The answer is something that won’t satisfy most of the users as there should be negate side to it or else people would tend to doubt every hour in believing that if they had that windows installed again, Pc would have been working better that it is right now.

And the answer to above is something that needs time to explain. I‘ll try to have it in a short. When you install a new hardware specially motherboard, CPU or Motherboard + CPU, the Operating system would require drivers of the motherboard. Now the entire windows version is capable enough to detect every hardware which is connected to motherboard by any means. The OS is in hard disk and the moment you will boot your PC. The OS would try to install the drivers automatically which would utilize the hardware.

If you have any hardware which has got specific instructions from the maker of the manufacturer just like a graphic card then you would of course need drivers that you would tell the OS about the hardware real use.

Same goes for specific processer but you would never need to reinstall windows again just for a processor and motherboard that is not unique or different.

There are chances where your old ram doesn’t support the new piece of the hardware(Motherboard)  so before buying you need to check that you prev hardware is compatible with the new one.
