You can feel overwhelmed when you are trying to lose weight. You may be pushing hard to begin with, only to lose steam soon afterwards. Then you begin to ponder how other people have been successful enough to reach their goals. You have to marvel at how they manage it!
Choosing your fitness goal is step number one. Have you calculated how much weight you want to lose? What is your overall goal for weight loss? Is it your goal to slide into a new pair of jeans that are several sizes smaller, or just feel more svelte in the clothes you already wear? Are you in need of a better figure and a bit more energy?
Keep a record of your progress. Write things down, such as caloric intake, foods you ingest and beverages you choose. Create a journal and check your weight weekly. Keep a Food log in the journal of everything you consume each day. By physically recording what you eat, you will be more self aware and perhaps more discerning in your dietary choices.
It’s a fact, you will eat at some point today! You should not wait until you are starving to choose what you are going to eat. Be ready with your own options! Get into the habit of packing your lunch. Consider the financial savings you can realize by skipping trips to restaurants. Correct menu planning and the construction of a comprehensive weight loss regimen is key to effective and lasting weight loss.
A healthy weight loss plan requires both modest exercise and a nutritional diet. Choosing a workout that you find engaging will make it easier to achieve the combination of diet and exercise that results in steady weight loss. Finding a friend to take walks with is a great motivator to work out. Get your family out and about and stay active with bike rides and hikes in the woods. You won’t even be aware that you are getting exercise!
You should keep junk food out of the house so you’re not tempted to eat it. If it’s not there, you can’t be tempted. Fill your kitchen with Healthy Snacks instead. Green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, and granola are all healthy snacks. If you have certain foods that you always seem to overindulge in then you need to avoid buying those. You will be less likely to eat these foods if they are harder for you to get at them.
Be certain to tell your friends and family about your plans to lose weight. The constant encouragement of your support group is sure to keep you motivated. Get together with your friends for support if you feel like giving up.
