Spain is augmenting its heavy lift capability with the proposed acquisition of Boeing CH-47F helicopters.

U.S. State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale of 17 CH-47F aircraft to Spain for an estimated cost of $1.3 billion

The Spanish CH-47F fleet will feature unique customer specific modifications, Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) AN/AAR-57A and Embedded Global Positioning System (GPS) Inertial Navigation System (INS).

With a cruise speed of 291 km/h (157 KTAS), the Chinook has a mission radius of 200 nm (370.4km), Service Ceiling of 6,096 m (20,000 ft), Max Gross Weight of 22,680 kg (50,000 lbs) and can carry a useful payload of 24,000 lbs (10,886 kg).
